Tesla, like most EOMs, use a boilerplate mileage for all their vehicle paperwork. They sell over a million vehicles per year. They aren't going to examine each VIN and check the mileage. They use a safe number across the board. If they said "1 mile," and yours came with 8 miles on the odometer, the buyer would be upset. If they say "26 miles," and you're has 11, the buyer is fine with it.

Also, as noted above, the Austin GigaFactory is a giant construction site where even the paved roads and pathways are caked with mud. The drive from the GF exit to the new End Of Line facility is easily a mile or two, and if a particular truck is selected for testing, that is another mile or two. And all of it in dirt and mud. I think the presumption of Tesla employees joyriding a $100,000 vehicle that is about to be delivered is kind of silly.

When we received our MY it had 35 miles on it as they drove it from Sherman Oaks to the house. Another employee followed and they both went back after. This was last last year. Paperwork said 5 miles.
