Just called my SC and they unfortunately said any pending orders will not receive the Military purchase program discount. so if you already paid your $1,000 deposit and are awaiting, then it would be a wash if you cancelled and got the Military discount. But this is only good for new orders starting today.

I got the VIN last Sunday and still no delivery date but I texted Tesla that I was ready to pay for my Beast prior to delivery but it irked me that as a retired veteran I couldn’t get the discount for a truck that hasn’t been purchased yet. They called me that day and told me they would give me the credit but I had to make a new order and cancel the existing one. I told them that getting the truck ASAP was more important and that’s why I bought the Founder’s edition. She responded they would transfer the VIN to the new order and fully refund the first order deposits and it wouldn’t affect the delivery date at all. Then I asked about the $500 range extender deposit and whether I needed to do a new one since it comes from the Tesla store. That stumped her and she said to wait 24 hours to resolve it. I’ll let you all know tomorrow how it falls out.

Ok, I did it today. Tesla sent me a link to make a new order with the military discount. They now will transfer the VIN to the new RN, cancel the original RN, and refund me the $250 order fee from the first order. We never got a firm answer regarding the range extender but it appeared as a separate Tesla shop order so I’m relatively confident it won’t get cancelled therefor I did not order another one with the new order.

[edit] it’s been a couple of hours and the VIN hasn’t transferred but I’ll make a new post when it does.
