I like having the drivers side mirror, especially when merging on to highways. I find the cameras inferior in giving depth versus a mirror. Having said that, FSD does my driving exclusively so the mirrors are less needed.

So to have a sleeker look, I just purchased these, will review once I receive them.

Please do! I'm curious if it's a " dollar store glass mirror glued to a piece of plastic. " or a $200 well thought out and robust replacement. I live in CA so for now i have to have 2 mirrors. and since the interior one was about as useful as a rear view mirror in a U-Haul, i removed it within a week. So for now i have to have a "mirror" on both sides.

sorry but if you don’t mind, can you clarify what was wrong with the steel cutouts they sold us? I haven’t installed mine yet either but confused on what the issue is.
Thanks so much
The exposed steel piece supposedly thought it was a cantrail and went flying off. I also have a set I haven’t installed yet but will probably throw some superglue on before installation, when and if that happens after unsupervised arrives.

Someone did a wind tunnel test and the difference was within the margin of error a CD from .387 to .382. I dont know enough about drag to understand how much of an improvement that is.

https://www.cybertruckownersclub.co...shocking-results-w-cd-figures-measured.13235/

I removed my mirrors and the product OP listed is very tempting, but they are not needed and wouldnt solve the biggest issue with a mirror delete (see below). I just filled mine with the CYBERTRUCKco aluminum placeholders.

What I can tell you after driving without mirrors for 8 months now.
  • GOOD: With the cameras you can have 0 blind spots. If the rear camera is set to 0.5x zoom, you will see the same car (its rear end) behind you in the camera and to your side window at the same time (its hood).
  • GOOD: The side cameras have better visibility at night than the mirrors. In mirrors you only see lights, in the camera you see objects.
  • ANNOYING: If you turn on the cameras to your center screen, some actions remove it and put it back to the GPS map.
  • BAD: When you have the turn signal on, there is no rear view camera. This matters if you are going to make a turn:
    • You can no longer see if someone is barreling towards you and are not going to stop.
    • No visibility of emergency vehicles are behind you.
    • If someone honks, you might have no clue who or why
That is one of my biggest gripes. Don't take away the rear camera when I use the blinker. Just pop another window up. It's common sense.

I removed mine using the same part. Agree with your assessment.

After years of reversing with the side mirror I just can’t let it go. It is too easy and for me faster than relying on the proximity sensors. The tilt option in reverse is also useful. It’s better than the reverse cam in tight spaces, for me.

Not trying to deter anyone from deleting there mirrors. To be fair I do use both options, I just feel like removing oem mirrors you lose several features for limited aero benefit.

I took my mirrors off for about two days and I have to back my truck into my garage and its a little tight..... I feel way more comfortable with the cameras and the Mirrors...I would be sick if I hit my garage and damaged both truck and my garage because I was trying to be cool without mirrors... Juice isnt worth the squeeze in my opinion. This looks like a good Half measure I could get behind.

Great analysis. I have REALLY wanted to delete my side mirrors since day 1, but Tesla hasn't made any relevant digital mirror improvements to allow this to happen.

And I tow my e-moto a LOT, and my rear view camera is almost completely occluded. UGH. I really wish they would have designed the(a) rear facing camera to be integrated into the top of the vehicle somehow.

Side note: FSD will finally engage again when the rear is occluded! I think 14.2.1 enabled this again. It had been disabled for quite a while after I reported several critical disengagements (there was a super nasty habit of it running stop signs because it though it was about to be rear-ended).

Well I received this today and it is exactly as
you described. A five dollar mirror stuck on to the plastic housing- literally - it is not even worth taking a picture. The housing is decent, but the mirror is this: https://a.co/d/fiubU81

It even has the 3m tape shown in the pictures. 🤦

I am sending it back to Chinazon.

I keep the camera app up when driving so don't experience the issue with the rearview going away when turn signal is activated. The only time I miss mirrors is when I am backing my trailer. Since the side cameras are flush, I can't see it and the rear camera is not very helpful either. I end up rolling up the tonneau and doing it old-school looking over my shoulder through the rear window. Although that is pretty awkward with the bucket seats and squircle steering wheel.

Well i bit the bullet and bought a set. after all it's Amazon. I can try them out for 30 days and decide then.
I like them. they aren't perfect, but nothing ever is.
The mirror part is on the smaller side, and doesn't completely fill the face of the housing, and they only come in black, and they have no motors, and no heaters and they don't tilt, or dim. But the point was, I live in California where the law states that i have to have 2 rear view mirrors. These fit that description.
The law also states that i have to have a muffler. Can i just bring a scarf?
Anyway, they are more useful than I thought. The image is very small, but my muscle memory is still trained to look there, and i can easily see lights at night and some useful image in the daytime. I threw some CF wrap on them temporarily, I may do a better job in the summer, possibly Kydex.

Now as to effect
I can't give giant wind tunnel tests, but some empirical evidence points to an increase in range.
I often take the same route home, and it is somewhat lacking in charging stations. There is one spot about 60 miles from home that is the last charger. All year I've been watching my power when I'm approaching that town. I know i can make it if the computer says I will have 14% remaining when I arrive. Over the months i have watched the number drop while driving 80mph. if it drops too fast, i slow down. Once i had a small detour that brought me home with 1% remaining. I called my wife and asked her to fill a gas can just in case. Or maybe some 9v batteries.
This week i passed that town with 21% and got home with 21%! Normally I lose around 4-6% One week does not a pattern make. But i will continue to monitor and will report back. But that is promising.
The entire point was never the range anyway, i wanted to delete. i was disappointed when they added them into the design at the last minute. I still think they look like an afterthought. The extra range is just a bonus.

I'd put that 30 day return policy to the test there Prof... You're better off 3d printing something and scotch taping a piece of glass from the dollar store.

I just finally got my return resolved with the seller last week. It took a long time because even though I received the mirror, Amazon said it was still on the way. So I had to get in touch with the seller and Amazon CS at the same time to get this going. With the seller being in China, this was not easy. In the end, the seller just gave me a refund and told me to keep the mirrors. And as it happens, I was at a sonics with kids and put FSD on to return home. Well FSD misjudged the right side and hit the mirror on the sign for the next stall. Fortunately the mirror is okay, but the bottom plastic portion broke off. So now I'm going to be putting this on - but replace the mirror that they stuck on.
