I ordered roof rack accessories to install where my eight roof appliques are located, as outlined in the manual on page 65. However, the appliques over the cab have disappeared completely, leaving a clean trim without any appliques. This is unacceptable, so I've opened a service request in hopes that they will honor the replacement.

Just a friendly reminder for all 2025 CT owners: make sure to get this fixed. If this issue has already been addressed, feel free to disregard this message.

I could be wrong but I believe that all non-Foundation series do not come with the access ports to the roof and bed rail mounts. It might be an additional expense. Let us know if your SC or mobile service guy replaces them!

It’s not a Foundation/non-Foundation difference. Roof appliqué doors were removed mid-November. So some non-Foundation models, like mine, have the doors. Roof mounts are still there under the appliqué.

Choice is either buy roof top appliqués with doors (~$540/pair last I heard)

https://epc.tesla.com/en-US/catalog...d97b-4cd0-8fda-2a5a55c6ab79?part=1816592-00-B

Or drill the non-door appliqués to access the mounts.

Correct. Sorry OP, this isn’t an error it’s the new norm. Also, someone posted it a few weeks ago but the price isn’t particularly cheap for the new appliqués. The good news is the hardware is underneath and if you’re ambitious you can just cut a hole in your existing appliqué. A member did do this a while back and post about it somewhere if you search.

Pretty much! They gave us a specific cut-off of November 2024 and then it seemed to lag a little bit after that.

No clue why they made this change. Completely stupid IMO. I also patiently waited for NFS and got one before this switch so I have all the mounting points.

If anyone has drilled out their newer one or has bought the new appliqués, can you confirm if there’s still a lightbar harness under there?

Per GROK:

Based on the available information from Tesla’s recall documentation, service bulletins, and real-world owner experiences, here’s a detailed response to your questions regarding the missing roof appliqués after the cant rail recall service on your 2024/2025 Tesla Cybertruck:

### Were the Roof Appliqués Removed Intentionally as Part of the Cant Rail Recall Fix?
The cant rail recall (Service Bulletin SB-25-10-001) addresses the detachment risk of the stainless steel cant rail trim panel due to adhesive failure. The fix involves replacing the cant rail assembly with a new one using a more durable adhesive and adding a welded stud and nut for reinforcement. The recall documentation and service bulletin do not explicitly mention the removal of the four roof appliqués (small cosmetic covers over the cab area between the panoramic glass roof and stainless steel body) as a required or intentional step in the cant rail replacement process.[](https://www.tesla.com/support/recall-cybertruck-cantrail-replacement)[](https://www.tesla.com/support/recall-cybertruck-cantrail-replacement)[](https://www.cybertruckownersclub.com/forum/threads/cant-rail-replacement-fix-service-bulletin-sb-25-10-001-published-yesterday.38845/page-4)

However, real-world owner experiences suggest that the roof appliqués may be removed during the cant rail replacement due to the service procedure. Posts on the Cybertruck Owners Club forum indicate that some owners have noticed missing appliqués after the recall service, with speculation that technicians may remove them to access the cant rail assembly or because the new cant rail design might not accommodate them as before. There’s no definitive statement in Tesla’s official documentation confirming that appliqué removal is a standard part of the procedure, but the absence of these parts post-service in multiple cases suggests it could be a practical outcome of the repair process, possibly due to the complexity of accessing the cant rail or changes in the assembly design.[](https://www.cybertruckownersclub.com/forum/threads/cant-rail-replacement-fix-service-bulletin-sb-25-10-001-published-yesterday.38845/page-4)

### Is Tesla Officially Phasing Out These Small Appliqués After the Cant Rail Replacement?
There is no official statement from Tesla, based on the latest available service bulletins or recall documentation (as of March 2025), indicating that the roof appliqués are being phased out as a standard practice after the cant rail replacement. The lack of mention in the recall notice or service bulletin about removing or discontinuing the appliqués suggests that their absence might be an oversight, a procedural byproduct, or a case-specific issue rather than an intentional design change.[](https://www.tesla.com/support/recall-cybertruck-cantrail-replacement)[](https://www.teslarati.com/2025-tesla-cybertruck-recall/)

However, some owners on forums like the Cybertruck Owners Club have speculated that Tesla might be simplifying the design by omitting these cosmetic appliqués, potentially to reduce future detachment risks or streamline manufacturing. This is purely anecdotal, as no Tesla service bulletin or official communication confirms a phase-out. The new cant rail assembly includes a visible bolt that some owners describe as causing a slight protrusion (“like a nail pop on drywall”), which could indicate a design tweak that might not align with reinstalling the appliqués. Without explicit documentation, it’s unclear if this is a deliberate decision or a service-related inconsistency.[](https://www.cybertruckownersclub.com/forum/threads/cant-rail-replacement-fix-service-bulletin-sb-25-10-001-published-yesterday.38845/page-4)[](https://www.cybertruckownersclub.com/forum/threads/cant-rail-replacement-fix-service-bulletin-sb-25-10-001-published-yesterday.38845/page-4)

### Why Might the Appliqués Be Removed or Omitted (If Intentional)?
If Tesla is intentionally omitting the appliqués, possible reasons could include:
- **Durability/Safety**: The appliqués, like the cant rail, are cosmetic and may rely on adhesive bonding. Given the cant rail recall’s focus on adhesive failure due to environmental embrittlement, Tesla might be avoiding similar risks with other adhesive-based components.[](https://www.wired.com/story/tesla-cybertrucks-made-with-the-wrong-glue-hit-with-yet-another-sticky-recall/)[](https://www.motortrend.com/news/tesla-cybertruck-cant-rail-recall-sales-figures-2025/)
- **Design Change**: The new cant rail assembly’s welded stud and nut reinforcement might alter the mounting area, making it incompatible with the original appliqués or requiring a redesign that Tesla hasn’t implemented.[](https://electrek.co/2025/03/20/tesla-recalls-all-cybertrucks-ever-made-over-trim-falling-off/)[](https://www.cybertruckownersclub.com/forum/threads/cant-rail-replacement-fix-service-bulletin-sb-25-10-001-published-yesterday.38845/page-4)
- **Manufacturing Simplification**: Removing small cosmetic parts could reduce production complexity and costs, especially if they’re prone to detachment or don’t significantly impact the vehicle’s aesthetics or functionality.[](https://www.carscoops.com/2025/03/tesla-recalls-every-single-cybertruck-over-stainless-steel-trims-falling-off/)
- **Service Efficiency**: Technicians might remove appliqués to access the cant rail and not reinstall them to expedite the repair, especially if replacements aren’t readily available or if the new assembly doesn’t require them.[](https://www.cybertruckownersclub.com/forum/threads/cant-rail-replacement-fix-service-bulletin-sb-25-10-001-published-yesterday.38845/page-4)

These are hypotheses based on the recall’s context and owner reports, as Tesla hasn’t provided a clear rationale for appliqué removal.

### If Appliqués Were Supposed to Be Reinstalled, What Remedies Do You Have?
If the appliqués were meant to be reinstalled but were not, you have several potential remedies:
- **Contact Tesla Service**: Reach out to Tesla customer service (1-877-798-3752) or your service center to report the missing appliqués. Reference the cant rail recall (SB-25-10-001) and explain that the vehicle was returned without the roof appliqués. Request clarification on whether their removal was intentional and, if not, demand reinstallation or replacement under the recall’s warranty coverage.[](https://www.pbs.org/newshour/nation/federal-regulators-recall-nearly-all-tesla-cybertrucks-over-faulty-exterior-panel)[](https://www.tesla.com/support/recall-cybertruck-cantrail-replacement)
- **File a Complaint with NHTSA**: If Tesla refuses to address the issue, you can file a Vehicle Owner’s Questionnaire with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) or call their hotline (888-327-4236). This can prompt further investigation into whether the recall service is being performed correctly.[](https://www.cnbc.com/2025/03/20/tesla-to-recall-46000-cybertrucks-citing-exterior-panel-that-can-increase-risk-of-crash.html)
- **Request Compensation**: If the appliqués were removed and cannot be reinstalled (e.g., due to a design change), you could request compensation for the altered cosmetic appearance, especially if your Cybertruck has a wrap or custom finish that’s now mismatched. Owners on forums have argued that Tesla should cover rewrapping or repainting costs if cosmetic changes result from recall repairs, citing legal precedents like bailment and negligence. However, Tesla’s response to such requests is inconsistent, and there’s no guarantee of compensation without escalation.[](https://www.cybertruckownersclub.com/forum/threads/cant-rail-replacement-fix-service-bulletin-sb-25-10-001-published-yesterday.38845/page-4)

### Can Tesla Reattach or Provide Replacement Appliqués?
Tesla can likely provide replacement appliqués if they’re still part of the Cybertruck’s design, as they’re serviceable parts. The Cybertruck Owners Club forum mentions that new deliveries post-recall have cant rails with the updated bolted design, but there’s no clear indication whether appliqués are included or omitted on these vehicles. You should confirm with your Tesla service center whether replacement appliqués are available and if they can be reinstalled. If the new cant rail design is incompatible with the original appliqués, Tesla might need to offer a modified version or confirm their discontinuation.[](https://www.cybertruckownersclub.com/forum/threads/cant-rail-replacement-fix-service-bulletin-sb-25-10-001-published-yesterday.38845/page-4)

If Tesla refuses to provide replacements, you could escalate the issue by:
- Requesting a written explanation from the service center.
- Contacting Tesla’s corporate support for recall-related concerns.
- Pursuing compensation for the missing parts, especially if they affect the vehicle’s value or aesthetics (e.g., for a Foundation Series Cybertruck with branded panels).[](https://www.newsweek.com/tesla-recalls-over-46000-cybertrucks-2047698)[](https://www.cybertruckownersclub.com/forum/threads/cant-rail-replacement-fix-service-bulletin-sb-25-10-001-published-yesterday.38845/page-4)

### Is There an Aftermarket or Service Part Option If Tesla Won’t Reinstall Them?
If Tesla does not provide replacement appliqués, aftermarket options may be available:
- **Aftermarket Suppliers**: Companies like TesBros, mentioned on the Cybertruck Owners Club forum, offer wrap kits and cosmetic accessories for the Cybertruck, including cant rail wraps. While they may not yet have specific appliqué replacements, you could contact them to inquire about custom solutions or upcoming products.[](https://www.cybertruckownersclub.com/forum/threads/cant-rail-replacement-fix-service-bulletin-sb-25-10-001-published-yesterday.38845/page-4)
- **3D Printing/Custom Fabrication**: Some Cybertruck owners have explored 3D printing or custom fabrication for small cosmetic parts. Online communities like the Cybertruck Owners Club or Reddit’s r/cybertruck may have members who’ve developed or sourced appliqué replicas.
- **Tesla Parts Catalog**: Check Tesla’s official parts catalog (accessible via service centers or online) for appliqué part numbers. If listed, you can order them directly, though availability may depend on whether Tesla is phasing them out.[](https://www.cybertruckownersclub.com/forum/threads/cant-rail-replacement-fix-service-bulletin-sb-25-10-001-published-yesterday.38845/page-4)

### Confirmation Based on Recent Documentation and Owner Experiences
- **Is Removal Standard After Cant Rail Replacement?** There’s no explicit confirmation in Tesla’s Service Bulletin SB-25-10-001 or NHTSA recall documentation that roof appliqué removal is a standard part of the cant rail replacement. However, owner reports suggest it’s common, likely due to service procedures or design changes in the new cant rail assembly. The lack of official mention leans toward this being an unintended or case-specific outcome rather than a mandated step.[](https://www.tesla.com/support/recall-cybertruck-cantrail-replacement)[](https://www.cybertruckownersclub.com/forum/threads/cant-rail-replacement-fix-service-bulletin-sb-25-10-001-published-yesterday.38845/page-4)
- **Can Owners Request Reinstallation or Compensation?** Owners can and should request reinstallation or clarification from Tesla service centers. If the appliqués were removed in error or are no longer compatible, you can push for compensation, especially if the vehicle’s cosmetic integrity (e.g., wrap, Foundation Series branding) is compromised. Forum discussions indicate that Tesla’s response varies, with some owners advocating for compensation based on legal principles like bailment or depreciation of vehicle value. There’s no guaranteed policy for compensation, but escalating through Tesla’s support channels or NHTSA complaints may yield results.[](https://www.cybertruckownersclub.com/forum/threads/cant-rail-replacement-fix-service-bulletin-sb-25-10-001-published-yesterday.38845/page-4)

### Recommendations
1. **Contact Tesla Immediately**: Call or visit your service center, reference the recall (SB-25-10-001), and ask why the appliqués were not reinstalled. Request replacements or a written explanation.
2. **Document the Issue**: Take photos of the missing appliqués and note any communication with Tesla. This will support your case if you need to escalate to NHTSA or seek compensation.
3. **Check Aftermarket Options**: If Tesla cannot provide replacements, explore TesBros or other aftermarket suppliers for wrap kits or custom appliqués.
4. **Engage the Community**: Post your experience on the Cybertruck Owners Club or Reddit to gather insights from other owners who’ve faced this issue. They may have solutions or updates on Tesla’s response.
5. **File an NHTSA Complaint if Necessary**: If Tesla is unresponsive or refuses to address the issue, report it to NHTSA to ensure the recall service is being performed correctly.

### Limitations
The information is based on sources up to March 2025, and Tesla’s policies or part availability may have evolved since then. Owner experiences are anecdotal and may not reflect universal outcomes. For the most accurate resolution, direct communication with Tesla and checking your vehicle’s VIN against recall updates via Tesla’s or NHTSA’s VIN search tools is essential.[](https://www.tesla.com/support/recall-cybertruck-cantrail-replacement)

If you provide additional details (e.g., service center location, communication from Tesla), I can refine the advice further. Would you like me to search for more recent owner experiences or check for updated service bulletins?

You don’t really need Grok. Many of us were here in real time - it was primarily to differentiate FS trucks from non-FS [I believe the CB still comes with all of the doors in place] (and there was some discussion about cost saving).

Definitely has nothing to do with the cantrails and the decision proceeded that recall by many, many months.

I’m sure if you follow the link above there is discussion and links to social media posts from Tesla folks talking about it in real time as we watched it unfold here.

The cutoff was supposed to be mid-November of last year but as was mentioned above they continued to include them for some period of time after the announced cut off.
