Mounting to the megadash. Please help me figure this out and maybe learn something from all the mistakes I made.

Not a hijack. pretty good idea. A cover that goes to the edges especially if somewhat rigid would allow securing to the edges

What do you guys think about using a clamp mount to secure to the back of the raised piece of the dash. The part covered in Alcantara on the beast?
probably wouldn’t look very good but would you trust that in a high energy collision?

You could go simpler and do what this guy did, just a piece of metal you can slip into the gap between the sections: https://www.cybertruckownersclub.co...ni-dash-“mount”-using-a-single-bracket.31570/

Could you try something like a friction mount?
How about anti skid carpet pad? One segment on the dash, maybe can use some type of pushpin into alcanterra to affix in place.
Then affix (glue) another segment of pad on the back of the peakdo thing.

The two pad surfaces should "stick" to each other and not skid. And is easily removable by hand.

There's also those non-skid surface pads for phones for dashes and consoles, but I've never used those before and unsure how heat would affect them over time.

It stays put as is no problem. The back magnets are plenty for that. The reason I’m after another solution is that I’m afraid of what it would do in an accident. The Starlink plus the mount box thingy plus heavy duty magnets is not a thing of insignificant mass.
I’m a trauma surgeon and see all kinds of facial and brain trauma every day from people having stuff on dashboards. I also have a child in an elevated car seat in all three positions including the middle seat. I’d never forgive myself if that caused an injury.

Those are some good points.

I carry heavy parts and toolbags, I use cargo nets and sometimes cargo barriers when I've had to use the back areas of my previous vehicles. I always worried about stuff flying forward from rear end collisions, which I think are the most common MVA's.

With the secured CB vault, I don't worry about that anymore.
