I saw in someone's car once that they had a USB hub and installed multiple drives so that one is for Sentry Mode and Dashcam recordings, another one for music/movie files, and another for Lock Sounds. I couldn't find a tutorial online but if someone knows how to do this and how to set it up so that the software knows which drive to go for which function, that would be helpful

Shouldn't be necessary at all, because a single USB device can be partitioned into separate drives, as seen by the Tesla U/I. My USB SSD has been partitioned into two drives and working perfectly in my Model 3 for almost six years now.

Does CT have Music USB Support other than the partitioning option or hub.

Model Y center console supports Music USB's , then in 2023 they stopped putting a 50 $ chip, which you can buy and run a cable to make it work.

I think the benefit of having multiple USBs is being able to hot swap the USB drive dedicated to the dash cam without losing the other files when you swap

I recommend you start with the Owners Manual. It states:
“
Note
Do not connect multiple devices using a USB hub. This can prevent connected devices from charging or from being recognized by Media Player, Sentry Mode, Dashcam, etc.”

I've never had that need or use case, because if I'm pulling the drive for dash cam files, it's usually when I'm moving them, backing them up, or retrieving them on another system - so I'm not in my car or driving it again until I put the USB drive back. But my drive has plenty of space so I don't have to purge or move dashcam files from it that often, usually once every few months.

I suppose swapping a USB drive might be a time saver if one is sharing their car with family members frequently using the car, and the USB drive dashcam files space fills up quite often.

I have this USB hub/switch now, with this 1TB SSD for dashcam files, and these three micro flash drives with LightShows and horns saved to them. The 1TB drive port stays on full time and will take weeks and weeks to fill up before overwriting. The LightShow mini drive port also stays on full time, and files always show when in the ToyBox>LightShow portal. The other two drives have horns on them, which I switch between via the buttons on the hub whenever I'm messing with the nephews. Bought the setup before I had the truck just to be ready, but it's worked as expected since day 1.

It lives in the glove box as well...just not doing anything lol. I already had everything loaded up and ready to rock when I got the truck, so its there just sitting empty ?‍♂

How do you assign which drive is used for dashcam and which is used for custom lock sounds?

USB formatting is owners manual/google info, and I’m not versed in any partitioned drives which is why I have 3 separate drives for the fun stuff. But set the USB format to exFAT on a computer, create a single folder on each (LightShow, BoomBox, etc) and drop the files in there. Honestly, Google it and you’ll get way more info than my illiterate advice.

I’ll add $0.02 cents to this. So like https://abstractocean.com/products/usb-hub-for-sentry-glovebox is one option. You can get a larger SSD drive and partition it. Least on a mac I had to use MacOS Journaled to break up the partitions then format to FAT32. If all that sounds like a pain the hub would let you have a stick for TESLACAM, then you can keep Music, LightShow, BoomBox etc with the ability to plug-n-play those easier vs pulling the drive, plugging it into a computer etc.

I’ve had cases too where I’ve had to re-format in car as it would complain the disk needed to be formatted again and I hated losing all the custom files.

Also if you keep USB Music on there for low to no cell phone areas this makes it easier imo.

Where did you get your light shows and horn sounds? Any chance you have a file you can share?

Light Show database here had what I wanted.
I'll try to send the lock chimes/horns via DM, but not sure that will work without having tried to do that on this forum yet. I can backtrack to the site I grabbed the locks/horns from and send if the attachment method doesnt work...
