Why would you use ABRP over the Tesla navigation planner? Tesla has direct access to the vehicle telemetry, etc., while ABRP does not (to my knowledge).
ABRP can use other DC Fast Chargers
The onboard nav is very conservative.

But in general, I look at ABRP to see some options, then use the onboard to watch after me.

Reality says that things change as I hit the road. I make different stops, sometime go other routes. Sometimes I realize that I can stretch to another Supercharger.

Personally I find the onboard navigation to be too optimistic. When it tells me I will get to an SC with N% SOC if I lop off 5% it is correct. And I drive the speed limit +/- 5% You are saying the opposite is true for you?

SoCal to Bay Area trip. Night drive, some elevation change heading out of LA area, then mostly flat throughout the Central Valley.
"Surely, you must be joking".

I wouldn't call the grapevine "some elevation change".

Curious if you noticed how much regen helped you on the downside into Tejon?

Uh… ok… so, while it would be really “NEAT” to have the I-5 follow the peaks and valleys of the landscape throughout that portion, it’s just not the case. The views from the highest altitude would be spectacular. Maybe you should take the drive and take a look up and you will see the highest elevation you have pointed out is quite higher that the pavement you are traveling on….

For this trip, I selected the stops, as I prefer specific locations. I also prefer the 250Kw chargers due to quicker charging and a shorter “pitstops”

I have done the drive (in a Tesla). Nowhere did I claim that. That diagram shows various elevations on the route, including the elevation of "Tejon Pass", not the peak. Reading comprehension? Here is the source of that diagram.

Apparently you felt called out by my comment, but best not to double down against the facts in the diagram.

That isn't the point is it? The grapevine is a huge ascent/descent by any measure, and to call it a "some elevation change" says more about you and your perception of the world than about the highway, the elevation gain/loss, the markings on the highway, or how the state treats it.

Don't we all (prefer 250 KW SC stalls). Are they labeled somehow? I generally pull up to a stall and plug in. Only then do I find out what the maximum current is. When they 'are' labeled I generally find them in use.

I want to stop and smell the roses myself in Coalinga.

Although I would love to have the kind of range you got.
The smell of roses in Coalinga...that would be nice wouldn't it :)

Yep. That’s how it’s done 👍😎
You mean 30 minutes 'more' than for 80%, right? We tried to go just to 80% on our recent trip to/from Denver and it was pretty dicey in places. In fact, in a couple places we had no choice but to go higher and drive slower.

I made this run to Kettlman in my model Y in 2022. "Some rise" in elevation on the L.A. side is over a mile vertical down from summit to central valley. On the downhill run to the central valley is a drop of a extra thousand feet to about 250 ft above sea level. From the top of the famous Grapevine you regenerate more than you use on the approach side from a higher elevation.
Still you need to charge when you reach the central valley for the long flat run on the valley floor.
Famous steakhouse Harris Ranch parking lot is where I used the Tesla charger and had a great lunch.
I so look forward to those in my North to South CA trips.

I've never been to one but understand there are even Tesla lounges in some supercharging sites. Would it be asking too much if we petition Tesla to make it a standard together with pull through charges? lol

On the navigation screen, touch the popups for superchargers, then select them and you will see the charging type (150Kw/250Kw), availability, along with pricing
