On the navigation screen, touch the popups for superchargers, then select them and you will see the charging type (150Kw/250Kw), availability, along with pricing
I mean at the stall. We always select an SC with 250s if we can, but the stalls do not always seem to be labeled 75, 150, 250.

Yeah, some are, some aren’t. I’ve noticed locations that offer both will have a small sign on to of the SC indicating which one it is. Kettleman City (the one with the lounge) is a good example of this

Personally I find the onboard navigation to be too optimistic. When it tells me I will get to an SC with N% SOC if I lop off 5% it is correct. And I drive the speed limit +/- 5% You are saying the opposite is true for you?
I'm talking about that it is optimistic in that it won't tend to route you to a Supercharge with less than 10-20% left in the battery. In many cases that means that you can actually go 1-2 Superchargers past where the Nav tells you to stop.
And then it wants you to add a lot more charge than is needed to get to the next Supercharger.

In other words, it will always get you there, but it takes a lot more time that is needed to do so.

And since they added the smarter version of it, sometimes it just gets stupid.

Spoiled Californians! Sign on Supercharger? Never seen that on the east coast.

It's easy to tell what speed they are, look at the pedestal numbers. If there is a C or D, then it's a 250kW station. (and the corresponding A and B will be 250kW as well)

If there's just A and B pedestals, then it's a 150kW.

Not that I would tell others to do.

But for me, I would take and concede to the better tech of the Tesla Cybertruck.rather than second guess it.

Again my previous point, that trip would only call for one stop at least on the way to the Bay area where it's downhill in that dreadful Grapevine.

I'm hoping we'll have options to replace a worn pack with new tech pack that's lighter with more energy. Has that been the case with any Teslas in the past? (Being able to get newer tech upon battery replacement?)
They've sold new ones for the original Roadster. You can get a replacement 90 for an old 60 or 85 on S and X for about $20k, which gives 15% more range than the 85, so not yet worthwhile unless it has failed or seriously degraded. I keep hope when there is a bigger used market they give some real design attention to it. At the moment they seem to be doing everything they can to get people to replace their old Tesla's with new ones instead.

Bryan, thanks for the tip! We're picking up our CT this week and heading so SoCal from SJ on Thursday morning. This will be our first Tesla and Tesla road trip!

I guess ABRP model is still far off on the real world

Setting it to 80 mph and 46 °F results in 591 Wh/mi, 3 charging stops and 35 min total charging time

Setting it to 70 mpg and 54 °F results in 489 Wh/mi, one charging stop and 23 min total charging time

Both far off from OP charging times by a lot
Have you tried adjusting the ABRP wh/mile rate for CT manually, to see what range and trips you can do with the consumption you are expecting from a CT? I do that all the time, since CT was released.

Uh… ok… so, while it would be really “NEAT” to have the I-5 follow the peaks and valleys of the landscape throughout that portion, it’s just not the case. The views from the highest altitude would be spectacular. Maybe you should take the drive and take a look up and you will see the highest elevation you have pointed out is quite higher that the pavement you are traveling on….
I've driven accross that pass last year with MYP.

Lots of free range on the way down as I was slip streaming a Sprinter van that was in a hurry. Was fun.

But that pass is higher than any hill we can climb by hand and foot, on the west side of Australia by a large margin. Come to WA if you want to experience "flat" ;)

Remember that we are all considered BEV first adopters.

The BEV floodgates will bust wide open once a true battery cell breakthrough occurs that is affordable AND scaleable.

We will all look back in 2034 and get a kick out of how heavy, large and limited range battery packs were a decade ago.
My feeling already is that 2 to 3 stops at SCs is just fine for a 500 mile trip! Got lunch! Got coffee? No battery breakthroughs required! Nice report!

Wow! You will have to shout out your experience! As a newbie you'll be living in the CT, to figure it all out. And yes, download and read the Manual ahead...

...uhh, that should pay for over a hundred kilowatts in Ohio. Or ninety kilowatts at the average Tesla price in the US?

-Crissa
Like I said, that was during a road trip. I was headed to New York. If I need to actually supercharge locally for some reason, it's ~half of that. But I very rarely need anything more than my level 2 charger unless I'm going somewhere several hours away.
