No politics; And- The US MUST streamline the permitting process for chargers, power infrastructure projects, and material mining.
Again, I realize well the Captain Obvious response! LOL!

No worries, legacy auto to the rescue. There will be plenty of chargers by this time next year:

In challenge to Tesla, automakers launch US EV charging network | Reuters

Six MAJOR automakers, not one little pip-squeak EV maker who doesn't know how to do anything right, have already started building (last summer) a new nationwide charging network, with both CCS and NACS plugs.

They will show Tesla what a real charging network looks like because they know how to manufacture things in high volume. With six of the world's largest and most experienced automakers, you can bet this network will pass up Tesla's pitiful effort by next Christmas.

No more price gouging like Tesla does at Supercharger stations because companies like GM, Stellantis, BMW and Mercedes know how to offer their customers a superior charging experience at the lowest possible cost. By using their decades of experience to become nimbler and more efficient, they will lower the capital costs of network buildout as they accelerate the buildout of fast DC chargers, passing the savings onto their customers. These noble companies want EVs to succeed, not struggle to reach 50% market share and they plan to ensure this by rapidly and efficiently facilitating convenient, low-cost fast charging.

The chargers will have large screens because they know how much Americans love their TV's, making fast-charging as familiar as sitting on a couch at home. Also, the screens will contain detailed instructions and proceedures to facilitate the often complex and confusing process of charging your car. The screens will be large and have clear Venn diagrams so no matter which brand EV you own, and what payment method you choose, the process will be clear as you follow the appropriate path through the Venn diagram. The screens will be touch sensitive and every screen will contain a "cancel transaction and begin anew" button in the rare event that things don't go as planned.

A side benefit of the large screens will be the ability to inform customers of other convenient products and services once the authentication process is complete and charging has begun. In areas with legalized gambling, the screens will turn into slot machines to provide entertainment and help customers pass the time. Because a payment method will have already been authorized by this stage of the fast-charging process, it will not be necessary to re-authorize a new payment method, customers can immediately try their luck with their choice of a number of enticing games. Customers will no longer be forced to use the monolithic red and white chargers that have no speakers, no screens and no card readers.

By the end of 2024, the combined might of six major automakers will have rolled out an impressive network with 20,000 individual Superchargers, handily beating Tesla with only 18,000 Superchargers, that took over a decade for the controversial company to build.
