The weakening is due to it heating up as it's bent.

They were talking about being able to dynamically adjust the ride based on load distribution. That suggests to me they would have some way of weighing the load.

They need to know weight distribution to manage the active suspension and traction capability.

I support first principle thinking and agree that some times "the best part is no part" but this time they definitely went tooo far.
