It is really interesting how the wheels on the CT break away and roll back. This can obviously help dissipate energy. An artifact of the steering system?
It's built into the design of the casting. It progressively breaks apart as mentioned in the Munro deep dive video.

Let's be clear about the faulty comparision of these two crash tests.

1. Cybertruck is performing the full-frontal impact test.
2. Ford F150 is performing the small-overlap test.

These are very different impact scenarios and cannot be compared to each other.

I think those breakaway parts of the casting is a genius engineering design. The truck in that kind of crash from the front or rear is totaled. As strong as the Cybertruck is, it has to get totaled to keep us safe. But to take the castings themselves, things that are (amazingly) only one part which would actually cause more force to be transferred onto the drive, and to make them break away in segments, segments that have different levels of strength to break away at different severities of crashes, makes it even safer for the passengers.

My original model 3 purchase while waiting for the Cybertruck was because it was the safest car ever and I would just give it to my Fiancee in the future when I get my truck. But seeing these crashes...my fiancee loves the truck too, I might just get her the single motor in the future.

That would also give me a reason to get laser etching on my truck so I don't accidentally take the slow one.

Gross weight accounts for vehicle plus passengers and cargo, so not an apple to apples comparison. We should look at a comparison of the Lightning vs CT instead.
We SHOULD but the comment I was responding to was about the F150 test video and how the weight of THAT truck compared to the Cybertruck.

It weighs between 6,015# and 6,893# which is either lighter or heavier than the 6,843# Cybertruck depending on the configurations. So, like I was saying without saying it - the F-150 is NOT 3/4 the weight of the Cybertruck.

Shown by not bouncing away like the F150 does
That's an ICE version. I'm guessing the Lightning would be quite different because of the heavy battery and lower center of gravity.
