Well that's dumb.... Well then what others are posting here is off I think. My "Hurry" mode is 10 mph above the posted read speed. Standard is 5 mph above, and Chill is the speed Limit exactly. Sloth mode is the Speed Limit also for me, not sure what it does different?
I also agree Tesla Maps on what the speed is are terrible. Way over 50% the FSD has a wrong speed on the screen and then depending on mode exceeds that. Not Ideal......:sneaky:
Although I think it was foolish, counterproductive and unequivocally dangerous to remove the driver’s ability to set maximum speed for many reasons, without the ability to set maximum speed the massive amount of errors in the map speed data makes the FSD effectively unusable. An update just came out touting an additional speed profile. Maybe a “DrMax” profile? (For driver maximum. Just a hopeful guess)
The profiles indicate how aggressive they will be in respect to the flow of traffic and road conditions. Standard can go over the limit by a few miles depending on the flow of traffic, sloth will not. Hurry will even go the limit depending on traffic or road conditions.
I think the new profiles are great! But the new driving profile sets combine aggressiveness with setting what the profile thinks is the appropriate speed. They’re no longer separated. All profiles have always gone slower depending on traffic and road conditions, but now we can no longer control the speed to be safe or avoid a moving violation without disengaging FSD. Tesla’s stated intent is to increase FSD use- this new system is doing just the opposite.

We MUST HAVE the ability to set maximum speed returned to driver control. I just had to disengage AGAIN on my drive- speed shows 45 on display but posted limit is 35. Even in SLOTH it insists on going 45. We’re in an area with a lot of pedestrians, so besides it driving at an illegal speed it’s genuinely dangerous. Can’t use it. I’m really unhappy about that.

And I really hope they’ll rename SLOTH- sloths are actually very nice animals but it’s definitely meant a a pejorative term. As it is, (when the speed limits are correct in maps) the driving profiles should be named LEGAL, MOSTLY LEGAL, EDGE OF LEGAL, GETTING A TICKET, GOING TO JAIL. But I’m hoping that the next update corrects the stunningly dangerous and bad decision to cut out the safety input of the driver.

If the intent is for my truck to learn my "speeding tolerance" by how often I shift out of "Hurry" and into "Standard", then I get it. Further, if I'm putting my truck into "Sloth" mode every day on the same stretch of road... there is a reason for that. 1mph over is rolling the dice. The police that work for my office building don't play.

That is not the intent.

I suppose it isn't a learning construction of software then. If it's ALWAYS wrong and will ALWAYS continue to be wrong regardless of input, it's nowhere near as good as I thought it would be.

But, the first time I used V14, it was going too slow. I tiptoed in some throttle and from that point on during that 40-mile commute, it maintained that "just above where it was" speed setting. From my point of view, it seemed that it had learned from my input.

Now, if there were a brake version of that... Like a way to say "Whoa, whoa, whoa... you are doing fine but just a little faster than I/events/traffic/nearness-to-cops are willing to tolerate. Let's slow this down a little." Sure, scrolling the wheel to the next lower setting works but shouldn't FSD be able to make the connection between location and changing to a slower speed profile? Especially if that's the ONLY disengagement every day?

There's no local learning on the vehicle. That's not how the system was designed. There are preferences, specifically on routes, but hopefully parking soon, stored in the MCU, but all learning with FSD is done centrally. You disengage, it sends data in. That data will help train the next version.

The fleet also sends map data, signs, road conditions to be populated to the rest of the fleet.

With V14, when you push the pedal, it actually changes the profile up one (depending on the length of the press).

The profiles are for user comfort. They aren't specifically made to show Tesla how YOU drive, but if no one used Mad Max (example) on a large scale, they may choose to reduce the aggressiveness or remove it...because it's centrally trained and programmed.

That makes sense. I've pressed the mic button and said "report speed limit is 25" and it popped up something like "Thank you. Your report has been received..."

Wouldn’t it pop that up even if you said “I love you Elon”?

Maybe. Though, I haven't felt compelled to say that. Does it pop up when you say it?

Also if you say “I hate Elon” or “teslas should be sold by QVC in front of the White House” or “wonder who else is on that Epstein list”. Same response.

I just meant that I'm trying to supply information to correct errors in the mapping software so "Sloth" will not go speeding past the Pentagon at 57mph in the 25mph zone like an idiot.

I genuinely wish that our input really corrected the speed limit errors. In my neighborhood where it’s 25mph limit, the maps think it’s either 45mph or 30mph. In the 10 and 15mph zones it still thinks it’s 30mph so now Sloth mode tries to go 30. Very dangerous and discourteous. On a feeder road that’s 35mph, maps thinks it’s 35 going west but 45 going east. There are plenty of clearly marked posted speed limit signs, and occasionally the CT sees them and complies, but not often. I’ve been disengaging and sending reports for a year. No change. It’s just become routine to scroll down to correct to a safe legal speed. We already had the perfect correction capability. I want it back.

There's a teeny tiny town nearby which is notorious for writing people speeding tickets.
And of course, there's a ROUTE 36 sign right inside those city limits.
The speed limit is 25.
FSD reads that sign as SPEED LIMIT 35 and even Sloth Mode won't save you from Rosco P Coltrane...

Also, right by my house, FSD incorrectly thinks the speed limit is 45 when it's POSTED as 25!!
C'mon Elon!

Here's to hoping the technology adapts someday to known or likely speed traps.
They could if they would add Waze. Not perfect, but much better than nothing.

Man mine are always the opposite. Speed limit is 55 and truck is reading 35. So I'm going so darn slow lol
