Hi Crissa,
Do you know if there’s any kind of online resource that we could read to confirm this statement? Many cars have aftermarket horns, I don’t know if they’re legal or not, but it would be super helpful to read the official rules so I can better understand what’s going on here. Thanks!

The new horn uses a speaker— not a physical trumpet.

Also below: the explanation for why you can’t downgrade (the truck can’t tell if you have a trumpet or not)

This confirms it

They know it. It is based on VIN number. They know which VIN has "Old Horn". They just have to enable for those VINs.

Ok so, this is the horn sound Tesla always intended Cybertruck to have. I’m on board, even if upgrading means having disabled trumpets. Kinda makes for an interesting story... and a good trivia night question ?

So Wes is saying that our original Cybertrucks have the highly coveted trumpet horns that aren't found in newer Cybertrucks. This should increase the resale value of our trucks at least 3 fold! :)
You discovered where the 15 miles of range comes from. ?

Tried updating in the truck while connected. Says successful but neither horn works still.
The last suggestion I have is to "reboot" the CyberTruck display/computer by holding both scroll wheels in at the same time for approximately 2 seconds. Screen will go black and reboot. Then with truck awake and connected try again. Sometimes my CyberStuff doesn't work, like playing Sentry mode videos or connecting to my phone's music library. This reboot always clears up the issue. It definitely won't hurt to try. ?

I tried this exact same reboot last night, no luck. Still horneyless. Lol

Aftermarket are specifically not made by the manufacturer.

NHTSA rules do not affect third parties.

It's stupid, not evidence based, but whatevs. This is why Tesla can't allow you to alter your horn sound.
