Anyone having an issue with either the base over heating? The lights stay lit for about 5 minutes and then the base looses power and the truck falls from the loss of power. I touch the base plate and it’s extremely hot.
Mine wouldn’t balance. I tried every ‘trick’. My friends/family tried. All that would happen is the base would overheat and shutoff. So frustrating, haha!!

I initiated a return and Tesla reached out to me. They said they don’t normally return ‘Lifestyle’ items, but if I sent them a photo and short video of the failures, they’d exchange it. I did, and they setup an exchange. I’m currently waiting for the replacement.

I might have to do the same. Mine fell off when electrician turned off power to home as well and I haven’t been able to get it back working since

The base TIMEOUT after certain number of attempts. The lights must be on to keep trying. Just take a break. Try again later. It may take many sessions. Just look at it as a puzzle. Try 5 mins and take a break. Base hot doesn’t help.

Power went out last night so I had to do it a 4th time! Took me like 5 sessions since yesterday. This time I actually felt something spinning inside as I centered it. You must aligned something just right. Centering it isn’t enough. It’s gotta match something. Once it does, you can feel it hanging vs repelling to the sides. Then slowly release.

I highly doubt it’s defective. It’s just very picky. Now I have it on battery backup so only if the battery is dead or power out longer than 30 mins that I’ll try the 5th times ?.

Nope, and I leave mine on all the time. Mine doesn't overheat. The only time it fell off was when my dog sniffed it, and when the electrician turned off the power to install my home backup system.
Ha hope you got a rig setup before the next attempt. Just finished my FOURTH!!

I’ve had to set it up close to a dozen times because of my kids and two power outages. It does get much easier with practice, and it only took me a few minutes the last time. Don’t give up!

Once you know that it’s possible to do and get a feel for it… it only takes a matter of seconds.
I tried over and over, powering down between sessions of failed attempts and couldn’t get it working… yet, my son tried it and got it going in a minute or two and he could do it over and over again…so I knew it was definitely an issue with me and not the unit.
I use the technique of pushing it down to the base and feeling the center… slowly letting it rise.

I believe you (and everyone else) when you say yours works!! Really, haha!! And I appreciate the tips from everyone.

But...mine *didn't* work and Tesla agreed after seeing the video.

But...the replacement they sent me was an obviously returned unit (the power cord was loose in the package, it was plugged into the power adapter, and the adapter had signs of use). Worse...the lights on the replacement wouldn't light up at all. And, of course, it wouldn't balance (also the bottom of the base had a weird bulge).

I sent Tesla a video of the replacement not working and they agreed to send ANOTHER replacement, haha!!

The replacement hasn't shipped yet, but I do have tracking. Hoping the 3rd time's the charm!!

I actually kinda like the challenge now. It's like conquering Mt Everest each time. It's def you and not the unit lol.

Third time was the charm!! Works good, easy-ish setup.

This one was absolutely BNIB, it had the shrink wrap, neatly coiled power cord, etc. And the lights actually work, haha!!

Minor update: This one works perfect. CT is easy to remount, and I’ve had it balancing for several hours now without issue.

For those, like me, who tried and tried to get the CT to balance and nothing would work…it’s not you, haha!! Reach out to Tesla for an exchange.

Now that's funny. Here is how my setup went.
