Greentheonly has been tracking this new radar for a while. Maybe its the HD radar Elon has stated would be useful. It would be cool if it could help the CT understand off road terrain topography precisely and adjust dampening ahead of time among other things. Figured I'd share it.

Would this work through the the 3mm SS exoskeleton? Versus plastic bumpers covers for all other cars.

That's why you put it in a spot it's not behind the metal skin? Headlights and windows also don't work through the stainless steel...

I know the front and back plastic, much lower sections. For the front not much room above air vent and below front camera/whatever it is in the plastic area. Most of it was air intake which could not be blocked. I agree, I guess we will know for sure by this time next year.

I was thinking the side rails we solid metal maybe they are ? CT is supposed to be the ultimate... I'm guessing more like rock sliders, and the back bumper bar looks like it's made from the same stuff. I figured the front as well.

The plastic should also give the CT the ability to be more "pedestrian friendly" in the event of a head-on collision. Do you think we will see external airbags to further enhance that safety feature?

Didn't think "head-on" collisions with pedestrians would be that common of a thing...

I’m wondering about the possibility of an alternative use of this new radar.

With the virtual world that FSD builds from the cameras currently, I wonder if this new radar could be accurate enough to build the virtual world in such a way that Tesla vehicles could be used to provide the data necessary for other robotaxi companies.

The other companies are using radar to map sections of a city to allow those taxis to know where everything is. But with a ton of Teslas running around collecting real-time location data, could this data be converted to the necessary format to sell to these other robotaxi companies? Could this be yet another income stream for Tesla?
