That’s awesome. Like the tron legacy movie. If you figure out a way to get this accomplished let me know. I got some ideas ?
I figure a palette of this ($10 for 5meters?) plus some Raspberry Pis, a PoE switch, and maybe a few other things....

Would make a great night parade/carshow/cosplay look...

...without integrating an amber piece of plastic in there (i enjoy this on all vehicles).
Don't need amber plastic to have amber lights.

Didn't Elon confirm it is going to be a US-only vehicle hence the not required amber turn signals?
The NA-spec Model 3/Y don't have amber tail lights, either. They just use the brake light.

Personal preference or utility aside, I just think it would be a damn shame if they under"utilise" the rear light bar.

An always on rear light bar, amber indicators - hell, even some dynamic turn signals! - would just round out the look of the car and balance it out with the front.

Elon has often said that it's important that things are aesthetically pleasing and the rear is arguably the worst looking part of the truck (come to think of it, Tesla's aren't really known for their rears..). The Cybertrucks ass could do with some work.

I can hear arguments already that all this would just be gimmicky. But if you argue that, then you don't need a front light bar either and we'd all agree that that forms part of its "signature" look.

(FWIW, I still think they should've incorporated the front amber indicator into the corner of the front light bar. So it's white normally, but then changes colour and blinks amber when indicating. They may have missed a trick there!)

It could be that the full length is for regular running lights ( like night time ) and the small light we saw in this video is the 3rd break light.
Whatever it is, it does not impress me at all.

The CHMSL must be on the vehicle’s rear center line, at least 34" from the ground. In addition, the lamp must be red. It seems the tailgate light in the center there in the pictures has an additional light though it is not illuminated when braking here for some reason. At least, it LOOKS like the light strip across the tailgate contains a section that is differently colored as if there are lights there.

A higher light is not necessary if the tail lights are high enough.

Well, its the law in Canada anyway to have a third braking light. This looks very cheap.

Is it? I thought only two was required for light vehicles.

That’s because the engineers only get to work the rear one time a year. Generally either their birthdays or anniversaries.

Since 1986, America has made it compulsory for cars to have a central brake lamp or third brake light located higher than the left and right brake lights.

That is a bold statement.

We covered this in another thread, but the short answer is; NOT a requirement, the reg says “possibly”.

All of the early trucks will be going to Tesla employees and suppliers. Joe public early reservation holders probably won’t see their trucks until December or January. I predict early production is going to be very slow.
When they released the Model 3 and the Model Y, they were delivering cars to customers about a month after the launch party. Likewise the Model S & X. I’d expect the same with the Cybertruck.
