Curious though; the scarring you experienced with the redesigned cyber covers. Was this scarring behind multiple spokes or just the one in the picture?

Wait are we solving the problem or Tesla?;)

Lesson for some maybe business 200 level questions. At what point will your customers tell you to go somewhere where the words yourself are precluded by some other words.

Or do you say tough crap. Ya want it? Buy it. No covers.

I remember a day when we laughed at hubcaps. That is really what they are.

Hubcap drama.
IDGAFF who fixes it personally. :) My suggestion that I may not have clearly indicated was a temporary fix to "reduce the abrasion" and not "eliminate the abrasion" was directed to the folks that want to keep the existing but potential flawed revised hubcaps until a final solution is in place. I do believe Tesla should at minimum at least work with a 3rd party to provide some hub covers in the interim. I assume Tesla is willing to replace damaged tires from the faulty hub caps under warranty?

Note: A good chunk of the folks here on this forum are of the mechanical or technical breed. It's going to be difficult for us to not thow idea's and thoughts about how to improve on problems. (y)

The scarring was behind four (4) spokes of the wheel cover. But what concerns me is that is was fully installed evenly on all sides and not crooked in any way that I could see. All tabs where fully seated.

Note: I rechecked and 4 spokes had very noticeable wear.

I'd vote for store credit of $300.

Don't want or need wheel covers that eat into the sidewalls and waiting on yet another redesign starts to feel a little ridiculous. Maybe staff 2 summer interns this time instead of 1 on the wheel cover design and testing?

Yes. If Tesla just came out and offered these as in:

"Tesla introduces the following offer: In Lieu of full-coverage wheel covers, you can order center covers instead. Choose between classic rounded center, flat center, rounded with "T", rounded with Cerberus, or flat with Cerberus."

- not affiliated with Tesla but I DID stay in a Holiday Inn Express...

I will take the 300 bucks in store credit or supercharger credit.

I’ve got 478 miles on mine with all tires filled to 50 PSI. There seems to be plenty of space between the new covers and the tires with no marks on any of the tires yet.

This is what mine looks like. Plenty of room. No marks. Only 400 miles though.

how high up does it go? Just got mine the other day and while they seem like they stick out like yours, the pointy parts seems like they go up much higher. If that made sense?

I have 575 miles on my Cyberbeast. It was the first delivered (8/19/24) in Raleigh SC that they had seen that had the new wheel covers installed for delivery.

I removed them today to adjust my AT tire pressure for colder weather. I was surprised to see that they also are rubbing the surface of the tires. The picture shows what has happened so far with just 575 miles on my truck.

Updated with more info:

Tire pressure was 47 on two tires, 48 on two others before adding air to bring it up to 50 on all tires. The wear was present on right front tire. The others seem to be ok, so it may be that some of the covers are defective. I have done no launches or even put it in beast mode and have done around town driving and one trip to a cabin I have on a forest service road. Tire pressures have never been low on any tires.

You should see the original design does to the sidewall. This is a huge improvement ?

Mine also look the same as yours so it is a mystery to me why this has happened so far to 1 tire out of 4. Hope it is just a defective wheel cover. All tires were always at the same pressure and there are no marks or damage to any of the wheel covers.

Perhaps one of the covers was installed incorrectly? That’s very strange indeed..

That is possible, but both the service center checked them for correct installation and I did as well. They all seemed to have clearance and not be off balance in any way after an inspection by me as well as Tesla, so I am just bringing this up to let others know to check to make sure they don't have hopefully any repeat of what I am seeing.
