Noticed sanding swirls & scratches on my newly delivered Cybertruck

When I looked close it appears like some sort of sander was taken to the panel.

It could be worse. You could be this guy:

He spent hours trying to buff out the ghostly handprint on his new Model 3 before he realized it was in the paint

I concur with Prime8. A 120k vehicle should be 100% at delivery. I love the SS look BUT without defects & rail dust !!! I hope the Tesla engineers figure this out before I get my CT in 2 years ?????

It looks like we picked our CT at the same place. I got it today and noticed some scratches on the driver's door and some stains on the hood. I am not concerned about it as it should be fairly easy to polish. Tomorrow I will be taking a closer look.

You guys talk about using BKF to clean your truck like it is easy. If it is anything like hand waxing used to be...

It's not. It's more like cleaning a sink. It either works, or it doesn't.

It would be really helpful if there was a way to get a 12"x12" sample of the stainless steel panel to test with cleaners and abrasive techniques to create lines, shines, swirls and polish finishes in order to maintain the SS panels to owners preferences.

It looks like we picked our CT at the same place. I got it today and noticed some scratches on the driver's door and some stains on the hood. I am not concerned about it as it should be fairly easy to polish. Tomorrow I will be taking a closer look.

Can you do some before and afters for us? Be nice to know what should be considered Tesla tax and just fix it at home, and what is a send it back level issue.

Congrats on the truck! Good luck with the polishing, I hope it works out for you, just remember that Tesla can correctly blame you if you end up making it worse. I would have them fix it but each to their own.

I did not do any before or after photos, but I can tell you that BKF and Windex work great on the hood for removing stains. But, I did notice a large scratch which I reported to Tesla for a fix.

I was able to pick up my Cybertruck yesterday and when I got it home under the motion light in my driveway, I noticed one portion of the panel reflected the light differently. When I looked close it appears like some sort of sander was taken to the panel.

my guess is that this panel was somehow missed during a 2nd stage sanding process at the factory. they are probably doing these by hand until the automation can be validated on the line.

It was on the stainless, hood and driver's door. When I picked it up it was still pretty dirty and I figured it was built around 1/24/24 right around the big storm they had at the Gigi Texas. I think the scratches are coming from when the delivery center is prepping the CT for delivery. They're sanding/polishing the CT and not doing a very good job. I can see an opportunity for the detailing shops to correct the problems that the delivery center is making. Sand/polishing marks we're not uniform. Attached is a copy of the scratch on the hood.
