Just stick it with VHB….at some point those brackets will be available from third parties.

Why would they be available from third parties? Tesla keeps telling you guys that this was a Foundation Series CyberBeast only perk and people keep acting like they can’t understand that fact. It’s not going to be available, they’re not going to be selling it generally and all of the wishful thinking in the world isn’t changing that. You had your chance.

Perhaps a third-party will design something similar but Tesla isn’t going to make this for the masses. So there’s no market for anybody to create a bracket that isn’t somebody on here designing and 3-D printing it. Which is very plausible.

That’s said, the tape is more than good enough. You have literal air brakes (“spoilers”) on vehicles all over the place (including every Tesla that has one) that are affixed with nothing more than double-sided tape. People are working themselves into a frenzy over Tesla’s initial poorly conceived mounting strategy/execution — it’s not coming off with properly applied VHB.

Get your grey-market light-bar, tape that thing on, and keep on cyber-trucking.

That’s the plan.

The brackets seem like a ‘belts and suspenders’ reaction to all the variability among the SC’s when it comes to following install procedures, haha!!

Interesting the wide range of willingness of service centers to do this. I’m still on the schedule for install this Thursday with all the parts I have on hand and even sent them a message this morning to confirm I would bring all the parts for install and they confirmed the plan. If you have multiple service center options locally I would try some other options. It may just depend on how much your service manager follows the rules.

As for some of the discussion above, I believe these are more of a liability for Tesla at this point. I think they want to install what is due and sunset it. The install is not plug and play by any means so unless they change the way the CT rolls off the line I think what is out there is all that will exist.

An update for anyone interested. Reading the forum I was nervous they might change their mind and decline the install I had scheduled. I did have all the parts I purchased previously when they became available initially so maybe they let it slip.

The install looks great! This is the first time I’ve actually had Tesla perform work without damaging something else! They did adhere to the rules of black tape to the light and left the final connection for me but printed and left the instructions to do so on my passenger seat. Overall I feel like I lucked out but I did pay slightly more than some others for the install, it was $499 plus all parts and supplies which I purchased separate. This was on my AWD CT.

Good luck to everyone else parts and install wise!

Thanks for the update!! Looks great.

I’m trying one more avenue to source the brackets and other parts, but if it’s a no-go, I’m just going to glue it down with either VHB or Betaseal U-418 and call it good.
