Great video! Well done! I thought Tesla was back to the drawing board on the light bar install itself? They were wanting to change how it mounts to the truck, because the epoxy to the windshield was not working as they had intended.

Random statements from users saying that they were told by somebody at a service center that this was happening.

Nothing reliable to support any of this.

@Redfire thank you for a fantastic view bc installation video. How long did it take for you to receive the light at? Did it require “two-sided tape to the window”?
About 4 months to get the light. I didn't stick it to the glass, Tesla did. It's part of the install process when you purchase it with the vehicle.

Great video. Just saw it after I just got my light bar working.

Tesla wouldn’t solder it so after a month and 4 Tesla service visits, one service center did it the correct way. They unplugged the B-pillar harness and soldered the wires for me. I just plugged in the harness and the lightbar is now working.

There now is a new lightbar v2 where the techs don’t need to solder. They can just snake the harness to the b-pillar.

Can you link any service doc to a v2 light bar? I have not seen anything like this. The updated service bulletin specifically requires Tesla service to solder up top and require the customer to connect within the b-pillar. Soldering is still present and required, just no longer by the customer.

I did the Tesla app service thing and schedule service. The SC ended up calling and canceled the appointment as they did not have any lightbars in stock nor did this process result in one being ordered.
I called the Tesla main number looking for service. When a rep answered (not at my local SC) I asked about the lightbar and explained I bout the truck in June 2024 and asked to be transferred to the main production area in Austin, TX. once there the gentleman was very helpful and scheduled the service in 2 weeks. This got the part delivered to the SC where I live.

Hi Redfire,
First, thank you for sharing your video, incredible helpful. Quick question, what's the gap between the windshield and the light bar? I had mine installed and I have 3.95 mm gap, but Tesla says it should be around 1 mm.

Thanks,

Give me a couple of days to get to my micrometer to measure it. Just eyeballing it,it looks like just under 0.5 cm. It looks flush otherwise all of the way around.

Just got mine installed. Gaps look good I guess? Not sure what to look for really.

The wiring connection was a breeze. Took less than 10 mins. Didn't bother with the frunk.
