When I test drove the CyberTruck, I was impressed with one pedal driving. I hardly ever had to touch the brakes.
So the question that I’d have is: whether or not the brake lights come on when the truck is using just regen braking?
Anybody have any experience with this?
I did see that one of the selectable options was whether or not it uses the brakes during regen, so does this affect whether the brake lights come on?

Yes. They come on. They kind of have to since the car is actually breaking and cars behind you need to be alerted to that fact.

If you’re ever in a Tesla you can observe this by looking at the model of the car on the navigation screen you will see the brake lights come on and go off in real time.

Does Regenerative Braking Activate Brake Lights?
Nice short video.

Point of order though.... there is no "gas" pedal to "take your foot off of". LOL!!
The proper term should be "accelerator: pedal. :)

My only fear now is when driving the CT we all look like one "those" people that ride the brakes. Driving with one foot on the accelerator and the other on the brake! Yikes!! :ROFLMAO::oops:

Tesla has had an accelerometer or equivalent functionality in all their vehicles since the Model S for sure (not sure about the original roadster but I would assume as well) which makes them safer even than ICE cars because when the car is slowing regardleas of reason the brake lights come on, unlike a car where they only come on when the brake pedal is depressed so if you are coasting to a stop no brake lights would be on. So definitely a case of a Tesla safety upgrade to the previous ICE status-quo.

Cheers

It also shows the brake lights on the image of the truck on the screen when they are activated.

Yes, every time you let up on the pedal they turn on, and when you press down acceleration again brake light turn off.

It’s an anachronism, but it checks out.

We use them all the time. Do you actually hang your phone up on the wall when you “hang up” on someone? When someone calls, does it literally “ring”?

Vehicle power is called “horsepower” ffs lol

We disagree...

Horsepower is clearly defined in modern engineering textbooks.

I no longer hang up the phone; I simply end the call. At least that is what Siri, told me.

And yes, my phone still actually does "ring", or at least makes a ringing noise with a "virtual" bell.

Finally, my CyberBeast has no "gas" pedal, ever. PERIOD. It does, however, have a "rivet". WTF!

One item I struggle with is, if one "cuts" their lights off.... how would you then, "cut" them back on??? Can you actually "cut" something on??

Finally, why does one drive on a parkway, but park on driveway??

Anyhow, as Reacher would say......

It’s not literally a “gas” pedal of course, but old terms persist because they are understood. For instance:

EVs don’t have “gears”. ?

It’s been 15 years and I still call the FedEx stores “Kinkos”.

Is posting on ”X” (formerly known as “Twitter”) still “Tweeting”?

Ok,
Sorry I started this…

EVs have a pedal that has a cable that connects to the pair of potentiometers.
So technically, a potentiometer pedal.

Technically, ICE cars don’t have gas pedals either. They have air pedals. They have a throttle that is controlled by a pedal.

Accelerator Pedal:
- This term generally refers to the pedal in a vehicle that the driver presses to increase the speed of the vehicle. It controls how much fuel and air mix is sent to the engine, thereby controlling acceleration.

Throttle Pedal:
- The throttle pedal specifically refers to the mechanism that regulates the engine's air intake (and consequently fuel delivery in gasoline engines). In modern vehicles, the throttle is often electronically controlled by the accelerator pedal input.

I have played with when the brake lights come on. I didn’t gather data :) but it feels like you can slow down earlier by letting off the pedal slowly and they will not come on until some really slow speeds. If you just come off the pedal completely they come on immediately. Seems like there is a threshold in there. Maybe someone less lazy than me has looked it up lol
