Hey everyone,
I recently noticed what looks like a panel misalignment where the front fender meets the hood on my Cybertruck. It’s not something you catch at a quick glance, but once you see it, you can’t unsee it. There’s a clear separation and it feels like something that shouldn’t be there on a brand-new vehicle. I’ve attached a close-up photo for reference.
On top of that, I’m also getting noticeable wind noise from the windshield area, especially once I hit around 45–50 mph and up. It sounds like wind shear or air getting caught somewhere it shouldn’t, and it really takes away from the cabin experience.
Has anyone else run into either of these issues? If so, did Tesla service take care of it quickly, or did it take some back and forth? I’ve submitted a request through the app, but I’d appreciate any insight from those who’ve been through something similar.

Is it around the door seals? Where the glass in the door meets the weatherstripping? Had this on mine. I thought it was a bad or leaking cantrail seal. Turns out the door seal was overlapped wrong preventing it from contacting the glass. Took seconds to fix once I noticed.

I've already been through the cant rail replacement/re-wrapping exercise once because my driver's side rail was bent just enough that the driver's side front window wasn't sealing fully and was causing excess freeway-speed wind noise. Tesla replace and was going to rewrap it for free, but my wrap/tint company comp'd it for me (and Tesla).

Just got my cant rail recall letter from the government this weekend, so here we go again.

GL with diagnosing and resolving yours. With such an otherwise quiet vehicle, wind noise can really stand out, although some is a natural part of this unique design. I find it still changes (read: worsens) with wind direction relative to my driving path, with wind speed and driving speed. Sometimes quite quiet and other times noticeable unless "Disturbed" is in the house, which is often.

Wind noise is not normal with the CT. Mines super quiet even at 85mph. The only time I get a little whistling wind noise is when there’s a cross breeze and I’m driving around 30-35mph. I haven’t heard it now that the weather has warmed up in New England.

Can you post a pic that’s zoomed out so we can more clearly see where you’re referring to?

The gap between my frunk/hood and the left and right side panels are not that big.

That's not what Tesla says, what most owners' experience shows, or what ChatGPT reports (see below, FYI only), but I'm happy for you! (y)

Mine is relatively quiet, but, as noted in my OP, gets louder with speed and, more impactfully, under certain wind conditions.

QUERY: Does the Cybertruck's geometry and aerodynamics make it prone to wind noise at highway speeds (and above)?

ChatGPT said:
Yes, the Cybertruck's unique geometry and aerodynamics can make it more prone to wind noise, especially at highway speeds and above. Here's why:
? 1. Flat Planes and Sharp Angles
  • The Cybertruck's angular design with flat surfaces and sharp edges departs from the aerodynamically optimized curves used in most modern vehicles.
  • These abrupt transitions create turbulent airflow, especially around the A-pillars, mirrors, and windshield edges, which can increase wind noise.
? 2. Large, Flat Windshield and Side Panels
  • The massive, steeply raked windshield and large side panels act as acoustic reflectors and pick up wind pressure more directly.
  • Any misalignment or lack of flush sealing in these areas (common early-build issue) can amplify cabin noise.
? 3. Door Sealing and Panel Gaps
  • Some Cybertrucks have been reported to have inconsistent panel gaps or imperfect seal alignment around doors and windows.
  • Given the sharp corners and large door panels, even small imperfections can allow air intrusion and generate audible noise.
? 4. Limited Design Compromises for Noise Damping
  • Tesla’s focus on stark styling and stainless-steel body panels may have left less room for typical NVH (noise, vibration, and harshness) mitigation strategies.
  • For example, stainless steel resonates differently than aluminum or composite materials, potentially transmitting more road and wind noise into the cabin.
? 5. Aerodynamic Drag and Flow Detachment
  • Although Tesla claims a competitive drag coefficient (~0.34), the actual flow behavior over the Cybertruck may lead to boundary layer separation in high-speed airflow, which contributes to wind buffeting and whistling.
? What You Can Do
  • Some owners reduce noise by adding aftermarket seal kits (door edge seals, A-pillar foam inserts).
  • Tesla may apply service bulletins or updates to correct alignment issues.
Conclusion:
Yes, the Cybertruck’s radical design makes it more susceptible to wind noise than conventional, aerodynamically optimized vehicles. While Tesla may refine production quality over time, early owners may notice pronounced wind noise without aftermarket or service adjustments.

Here is a photo I took before I took it in for service. This is the front driver side fender where it lines up with the frunk.

Is the gap the same on the passenger side?

I can try to take a pic of mine tomorrow so you can compare.

Your fender glue is failing, mine had the same issue and they replaced both fenders, tesla found the glue to be faulty in mid march after the cantrail recall was made, take a video and see if it separates anymore than it already has, most likely air gets in there and makes a ton of noise
