It’s surprising that there’s so many threads about people wanting to pre-pay for their truck prior to delivery. Maybe its the way Tesla words things on their app. Aside from your deposit, you don’t have to pay another dime until you take delivery and have had a chance to inspect the truck.

this isn’t my first Tesla and as lame as it sounds, I trust them. I’m going to get this truck either way and they won’t screw me over and they will make something right, so I don’t mind paying and being done with it. Saves me time

Trust me, I’m suspicious as well. I did and qualified for the long-term shareholder thing, but someone in another group said someone probably just canceled this and I was the closest one at my delivery center to the match, so I’ll probably have my VN soon. If not, I’m being scammed by Elon to make delivery numbers look better for the street.
Your invite to email order. Did it say because your a long term shareholder or As an early reservation holder?

No it didn’t. Normal order configure one

it had to be a cancel order is my guess and I’m just next in line at my pickup area

I didn’t receive a vin yet but have delivery this weekend. I wonder when it will show on there?
As you go through the delivery process, then you will complete the steps to make final payment. I would not make that payment until you've seen and walked around it and agree to take delivery. Make sure you have your bank account info handy as you will need that for the Plaid unless you are already set up.

That’s always my philosophy with Tesla, too and I’ve had no regrets.

I'm not a big fan of Plaid.

I've purchased 4 Tesla's so far.
For the first two (M3 & MX), I was able to just give them bank routing and account info.

For the last two (MY & MX), Plaid was the only online payment option.
I started to use Plaid, but both times it asked for my bank login and password.
With that, they have full access to all my banking information, income, payments etc.

I did a little searching on Plaid, and sure enough at the time they had some legal action against them for selling information.

I'm not accusing Plaid, just not willing to give them that level of access to my bank account.

For the last two vehicles, I just took cashier's checks.

That may be better anyway, if there's a problem, you can hold off payment until it's fixed.
In my two cases everything was fine.

I told Tesla ahead of time that I'd be bringing a check and they were fine with that.
It didn't delay things, delivery was as expected.
A bit of extra hassle going to the bank.

Just my 2 cents.

Plaid never works for me either. Both my banks always get an error. So I do wire normally

yea, that’s strange that they would require payment without a VIN and they always require Insurance before a scheduled delivery. Let us know how it gets resolved. BTW…is the edit function still active?
I just noticed something. This guy is very private. All we know is he joined the group less than a month ago. For all we know he may not even b be human.
