I recently upgraded my phone, but also got an update on the CT at the same time. I’ve never had any issues before, but now I almost always have to open the app to get it to register the key, even when trying to get into the truck. It’s a new iPhone 17 Air, and I’m not sure if I gave the Tesla app the proper permissions or if there is an issue with the new CT update. Anyone else seeing this?

This happened to me, once, just recently. I didn't have to re-pair it though. I just put Key card in spot and then everything was normal after that. I also upgraded my phone to 17 Pro Max.

yeah, there are some lingering bugs with key pairings; just have to delete and redo them for good measure.

Not to be condescending but have you tried both restarting the phone and doing a two button reset on the truck?
That has worked for me before.
As for permissions, location access should be set to always and not “while using the app” I think for the Tesla app.

Same happened to me when I got the 17. I had to restart my phone & truck. I also noticed that my Icloud back up renamed my new phone Iphone 16 but it was showing up Iphone 17 on the Cyber.

There may also be power saving settings on the phone that attempt to save the battery by shutting off the Bluetooth radio after a certain length of time of not using the app.

The over-the-air software update is unlikely to have anything to do with it.

I’ve been having this same issue for a few months now. On some days, my phone key disconnects multiple times. I don’t believe this is a phone issue, as my other two Teslas have never disconnected like the Cybertruck does.

The truck is currently in service due to this issue. We’ll see what the resolution, if any, is.

That’s all for advice. I’ve reset my phone and make sure it’s set to “always” for location permissions and turned off all battery saving measures. The only thing I haven’t done it reset the truck. I keep meaning to do this, but want to do that at home and keep forgetting.

I’ve done both resets, 2 buttons and brake pedal, and turning off the trucks power for 2 minutes. I‘m beginning to think it might be the new Apple N1 chip in the 17 models, doesn’t have as strong a Bluetooth. I’m also noticing my insulin pump is always loosing connection as well.

just putting it out there, i had a similar issue and the problem was that i had too many key cards listed in the car. remove all your old unused phones, keys and 'unknown' api keys and try re-pairing your phone, that seems to have fixed it for me.

the way i could tell it was a connection issue was that in the iPhone bluetooth settings it wouldn't auto "Connected" any time except that first time after pairing. now when walking away it'll "Not Connected" but then when i get close it'll be "Connected" and everything else works.

Tesla should probably add some kind of warning for there being too many things on the list...

My problem started last year after I upgraded to Iphone 16 from Iphone 14, I think. Is this problem happening at your home only or at any location (like work, etc).

I think @trivex was correct. I had 10 extra "keys" in my truck. iPhone 15 pro, iPhone 16 pro, 17 Air, Apple Watch, my wife's phones, even renaming a phone, causes it to add as another Phone Key. I removed all of them and haven't had as much as an issue. But I still have some issues, and other bluetooth devices I have are not working correctly, so I have a ticket out with Apple, and they have been doing a ton of log gathering and testing.
