People are going to turn in front of this thing a lot. Seeing it approach might make it tough to see because it reflects the road and surroundings so well, it blends into the environment.

This will be against the law soon.
I can see this as well. Understandably other things such as tankers and bumpers etc. are reflective chrome, the difference is how light is reflected. Round shapes defuse light (unless concave) and this is less distracting or dangerous to other drivers. Flat reflective surfaces can be pretty harsh on the eyes.

Plus, tankers are pulled by clealy marked semis and have all the right lawful equipment to make them visible.

This thing looks cloaked like the fuckin Predator when on the road ?

Those are all round surfaces. I think what we will find is that polishing your CT to a mirror finish will fall in the category of "probably not technically illegal in most states, but highly advised not to".

If someone rams into you or wrecks anywhere near you, there is a seriously good chance they lawyer up and you get named as "their vehicle blinded me, and caused me to wreck".

Mirror finish at your own risk ?‍♂
Ha-ha! Not my thing, but I'm not too worried.

As an added bonus, after all the razor sharp edges of the Cybertruck cut your face, you will have a handy mirror to check out the damage! :ROFLMAO:

The existence of those things doesn't negate the fact that it's illegal in some places, nor does it eliminate any risk of being a target of litigation.

Funny you should say that ...

Google search: "lawsuit road glare"

It returned thousands of law firms instructing people to contact them for personal injury suits as a result of sun glare on the roadway.

Generally speaking, the liquid tanker trucks have all metal construction (for several reasons). The rear of refrigerated trailers are often quilted in sheet metal (for insulation, obviously). Having the entire trailer shiny, obnoxious chromed out with a mirror-like finish is ultra rare. Doubt there is a legitimate reason for a square body mirror finish.

Also, finding exceptions to the general statistic is pretty futile.

It's the flat CT surfaces that are the problem. It creates blinding reflections, especially around sunset and sundown.
Yeah, the sun does that more effectively than any shiny truck! Not worried.

Next thing, people will probably want to ban grey cars because they blend in with the pavement too well, or ban storefront plate glass windows near roads because they might reflect the sun into drivers eyes. How about the flat windshields on most large trucks? The sun can reflect off them, right into other driver's eyyes.

Not worried.

One of these days someone is going to engine turn an entire cybertruck and it’s gonna look crazy.

Whether I would do or not, I like the hand polished mirror chrome finish simply because it is highly demanding of surface perfections of fit and finish, or otherwise it'll telegraph any ripples or imperfections like crazy. It might actually hide inconsistent panel gaps to some extent, with the reflective finish camouflaging them, but for smoothness of surface curves and near-planar areas, the mirror finish is an ultimate demanding test.

I don't expect the Cybertruck to be microscopically perfect but a chrome mirror finish takes guts to do for the reasons I've mentioned above, and this one shows that Tesla is doing a pretty good job on their panel surfaces.

Most states have statutes against excessively reflective tint, mainly attached to the windows. However they often extend to all vehicle surfaces.

YMMV

Riiiight,
And the sun itself, which we all endure on these fall and winter days is no problem, but the reflection is?
Not buyin' what you're sellin'.
