I've had my Foundation Cyberbeast for a week now and noticed that when I use a supercharger that the battery goes from 80% to 77% before I go ten miles back to the house. The truck indicates pre-conditioning on the way to the charger but I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong or it's just normal to see a few percentage drop post charging. Thanks for the help.

3% is ~10mi. There's rounding as well. Seems normal.

Thanks to all for the replies. Given this is our first exposure to EV I'll likely have a many more novice questions. Hopefully the learning curve won't be too steep. We've replaced both of our ICE vehicles with EV's or we're committed for sure.

if you are aiming to be home at 80% battery, then just increase your charge limit a bit.

A better question:

Why are you Supercharging 10 miles from home? Do you live off-grid (without electricity)?

Since the beast was at 24% and I've got free supercharging it seemed like the logical thing to do. We also picked up a Juniper and its charges at the house. I'm still learning the EV process so I'll likely ask many more WTF questions. The next challenge will be in a few weeks as we leave both rides at home during a 20 day out of town event. Given we live in the lightning capital we're won't be plugging the cars in as the risk of surge is too high but that's another process we'll have to learn to manage.

Proper external grounding should minimize the risk. I also have a whole-house surge suppressor at the main panel.

I’ve never heard of an EV being damaged by a transient power surge, although a direct lightning strike will destroy anything.

Here's what a lightning strike did to an onboard charger on our boat a couple of years back. The strike was down the street about a block away, (nuked a palm tree). It blasted all of our surge protectors in the house. Several other home lost appliances. The charger was our only issue other than surge protector. Needless to say I'm a bit gun shy after the event.
