Got my truck, PowerShare, and universal wall connector in December, finally just had my gateway and wall connector installed in my garage, I actually had to get my entire panel replaced due to it being at full capacity and a main breaker that was starting to crap out on us, so I got the whole shabang installed.

Pics below of our sub panel which includes all the breakers that I chose to be backed up in case of an outage. Total install took 4 days to complete, registration and gateway activation was within a few hours, only troubleshooting we had to do was dumb stuff like connecting the gateway and wall connector to WiFi where it just wouldn’t connect and we had to try over and over again, resetting and repeating steps until it worked.

Very relieving to have this completed and see everything working in the app. Looking forward to trying the “go off grid” feature soon.

Yes there is, I actually updated this post with that info and a pic of the exterior panel but a new post was created somewhere and I can’t figure out how to delete this one.

8 months and 2 PowerShare’s later… mine connects to WiFi, after some effort, looks fine, then disconnect’s until you cycle power to the Gateway… so basically non functional. The installer, who has been great and spent crazy time with Tesla Support, is now returned with a 3rd Power Share soon. I recommended also changing the Wall Connector, but they don’t think that is necessary… seems unlikely that I received 2 DOA units. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Wow man that sounds like a real headache. Hope it get fixed permanently. After the initial install, how long did it take for you to realize it’s a dud?

The UWC has a separate WiFi connection to the house vs the Gateway, so it doesn't seem like it should be involved.
Have you tried a different home WiFi setup?

If you don't mind sharing... how much did it set you back to have all that done.

Qmerit gave me a quote for nearly $20k.

I got 11 quotes in total, took weeks, finally landed on a relatively medium to large sized company with a great reputation in my area with an estimate of $7400 including all permits and inspections. The lowest I had was about $2500 which sounded way too sketchy, and the most expensive was about 18k from qmerit, treehouse was another that wanted between 12-14k. Qmerit is over the top, but I wouldn’t go with a very small business either, choose a medium sized company where you’ll save thousands but mostly deal with a few small headaches like having things rescheduled or poor time management. The company I went with said they’ll have everything done in one day, took them 3 days, they drilled into one of my 30A circuits in the process and took a. Whole day just to repair their damage, but then completed the work relatively well with clean wiring and overall alignments, patching, etc. then a separate company they contracted who was Tesla certified came to register the gateway. Also they initially confirmed they had lots of experience with teslas gateway and PowerShare specifically but left out the important detail that they had never done one for cybertruck specifically which led them to figuring things out and troubleshooting for 5 hours on site to finalize the registration. A good reputation it was relatively easy to make sure they were doing everything they could to make me happy and make sure they’re getting everything done properly. In the end. Honestly for the amount of money I saved vs the really big guys who would’ve been tenfold more efficient, it was absolutely worth it as I was not afraid to sort of manage the job a bit and ensure I was being clear with what needed to be delivered from the get. In the end I saved anywhere from 5-10k.

No, I made it very clear because they did confuse that at first, then I spoke with their lead electrician to clarify and he said they’ve done many gateways, teslas powershare included. After discovering their team on site wasn’t familiar with the process, the lead explained they’ve done the PowerShare unit for teslas solar install a lot, just not cybertruck. Apparently PowerShare is also used for Tesla solar monitoring? Then they said it’s only been V2 they’ve installed? So much confusion.

How much did it cost? I finally received a quote after hounding Tesla sales and qmerit for 6 months. New house. Charger and electric panel in the garage. Quote is over $10,000 to install. Looking for second quote.

Took 6 months to get a quote from local electric company thru qmerit. Over $10,000 for installation at new house with charger already in stalled. I declined quote. How to get additional quotes without going to the Tesla store to get help? Qmerit is usually unresponsive.

Try contacting any certified Powerwall installer.
Our full panel backup install was just under $7k including new subpanel in detached garage (we/Tesla provided the $2.5k Gateway and UWC) . Included two surge suppressors.

IMHO, forget Qmerit unless you’ve got a fortune. Go to https://www.tesla.com/support/certified-installers and find a certified electrician near you. Get quotes from as many as you can. Compare quotes. Choose most competitive quote. Keep a close eye on everything throughout the process. Good luck.
