Why do we have to schedule preconditioning? Why isn’t there an option to just precondition immediately, especially since the scheduler won’t let you pick a time within 15 minutes of the current time? It’s so frustrating! In cold weather, it’s a hassle. Plus, for some reason, my truck only heats the cabin and not the battery during scheduled preconditioning. I have to tell it I’m heading to a supercharger to get the battery pack warmed up. Is anyone else in cold climates having issues with battery warming or preconditioning?

Whether Climate-on preconditions the battery is dependent upon cell temp. Typically, in the 30's (Fahrenheit) it will; in the 40's or above it won't.

"Preconditioning" when heading towards a Supercharger is entirely different from "preconditioning" simply because it's cold. Because DC Fast Charging requires much higher temps.

So here is the disconnect from the manual. According to the manual if you turn the climate control on then that's supposed to warm the battery pack. I think that may be true, but I'm certain it's different from the preconditioning for charging as that seems to work better.

I will caution you that while climate control doesn't use a lot of energy, preconditioning for charging is very power hungry. Just having that on for 15 minutes seems to drain 4% which is double the energy I used just to get to the supercharger when I was using it.

Please tell me that one doesn't each morning want to warm up the cells for a good regen drive.

One doesn't need to precondition the battery to drive. One can precondition the cabin for comfort.
The best way to have a battery preconditioned from L2 charging is to try to time the charge ending prior to driving. The battery takes care of itself. I try not to be the BMS. As Tesla already puts one in each car/truck.

Setting a nav to a Supercharger makes the car/truck waste energy to create heat. If that floats one's boat. Go ahead and waste. Yet the amount wasted by this exercise would likely negate much of the regen you want back.

I get much of my regen back even though the first 7 miles of my drive is downhill. I just drive, and even when it is really cold I get it back. Yet my charging ends about 15 minutes prior to me walking out the door. Warm cabin.
