When you mentioned that a boxer was involved I knew there was trouble brewing! Mine is nothing but trouble also!?
Yeah boxers are always up to no good. If she doesn't like something, she lets out a huge sigh. I love your profile pic by the way!

The door covers popped out when I first put them in place but, after I reconfigured the plastic hook anchors, the door covers have stayed put.
When you pull back the door panel at the base of the back interior window you can see 2 different layers. One layer rests against the glass and the interior door panel is on top of the layer that is resting on the glass. I placed the plastic hooks in-between those two layers so the raising and lowering of the glass does not affect the door panel hooks.
I hope that helps.

Ohhhhhhhh! I'll try this out, thank you ?

Edit: and it's perfect now. Thank you very much. I hadn't been pushing the tabs in all the way.

Well it happened. Left my two dogs in the truck in Dog Mode and while I was having breakfast in the restaurant I got an alert on phone that truck door opened. One of the dogs stepped on the door button and dogs were able to push door open and yep, went running. Did get help recovering the dogs but what a joke.
OMG, and I thought cats were the smart ones!

what's your point? against Dog Mode locking all doors, windows and preventing a dog/cat from opening the doors/windows?
If the child seat locks were on, the dog should not have been able to open the back doors. But indeed, they can open the front doors.
There's no way that the front door locks will ever get disabled, AFAIK. Liability and safety.

If the dogs crawl into the front seats, they need leashes or a barrier to keep them from doing so.

And yall think that Dog Mode is new, it's been around for years.

No, he's absolutely right. It's a safety and liability issue. Your dog opening your doors from the front seat sounds like an issue for you to address on your own (and plenty of options have been explored in this thread).

Creating a safety hazard for humans for the sake of convenience on your part with your pet is senseless.

It appears this is Tesla's corporate take as well.

That’s a you issue. What if there is an emergency and a person needs to get out of the vehicle? Tesla cannot software lock the doors from use. That’s illegal AF
Take a look at the manual, you'd learn all about the answer to your question. (Hint... there's another set of threads dealing with how easy and common it is for people to use the emergency door front door release just like it was a mechanical, impossible to lock, inside door handle.)

Tesla can do anything they want with their software. The word you're looking for is "may".

There is no Federal law (or likely state law) that addresses vehicle door latches so Tesla's design cannot be illegal. But, there might be a regulation, so I looked. Here it is: https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-49/subtitle-B/chapter-V/part-571/subpart-B/section-571.206
It is totally silent about how the door is opened but really specific about keeping the door closed under loads.

I agree. We need to make this issue go viral to force Tesla to do something about this. Maybe Teslarati or someone else that publishes stories can write an article about it to increase visability?
Quick. Someone shoot a video of this issue. We'll need 2 cute dogs, girl in a bikini, someone to cry on cue, someone to "stop traffic", two drivers, and a manly dog saver. STAT!

Or, now that I think about it, we could just make up some outlandish conspiracy theory about how Elon hates dogs and has secretly imbedded death traps via software in all Tesla products.

Dog mode was introduced in early 2019.

If it was a problem that was needing to be changed, don't you think that it would have already been changed?

And after working the forums for 6 years, this is the first instance that I have even seen and a search of YouTube doesn't seem to bring up anything either.

Just turn back seat child locks on and that may solve the issue.

My wife is pretty good looking and the dog mode locked her in the front passenger seat the other day. Mine is not like what the OP says.

I’m a dog lover just as most are. Sorry to hear about your pup getting out. My dog has similar abilities as yours in terms of opening doors etc. Rather than force a solution that isn’t in compliance with typical safety measures I did what one should do. Buy a dog seatbelt fastener. He is seatbelted to middle rear seat and cannot access the doors.
I would suggest using safety harnesses for your dogs. The biggest reason is safety. You hit the brakes and your loose dogs will go flying. The harness would keep the dogs in the bag seat too.
Our upcoming pet liner not only protects your doors but also features a convenient pocket for easy access to the seatbelt fastener ?
