Experienced it with my family yesterday, person was vocal. Angry (I get it due to Doge) and felt unsafe. How do you all deal with it?
Where did this happen? And what did they do?

Just tell them (if in America) I embrace your freedom of speech. But opinions are like assholes, everyones got one and some are bigger than others.

Had some kind of crap spread over my tonneau cover yesterday, Sentry didn't make a video probably they didn't come close enough to the vehicle. Being a bigger person probably prevents open displays of hostility, so the roaches resort to sneak attacks.
Yep... it's pure cowardice. Funny how they won't do that when the owner is around. Its funny because that same idiot would go cry if we keyed their 2007 Subaru ("? waaaa I cant afford a new paint job").

This is all a product of the social networking echo chamber. They hear and see something on X, TikTok, Reddit, Facebook, and they need their 15 minutes of fame to gain some form of social credit and feel wanted.

Sometimes, it backfires. Some moron posted in my home town's Reddit about throwing dog shit on Cybertrucks. Needless to say he got his ass kicked by everyone else on the comments. He thought he was going to be cool because of his other echo chambers, but the backlash he got about messing with other people's cars and to take out peoples' anger at Elon on vehicle owners is just wrong. I hope we see more of this where peoples' behavior is pushed back.

Shocked to hear that backfired to be honest. How sad is that.

I understand the anger and the various streams it is coming from. Many feel powerless in the face of things beyond their control. The web is full of fear reinforcement and outrage feeding. This site can actually fuel irrational hatred the other way. I have disengaged a bit for that reason. There is no us versus them. We are in this together. This is a very strange time and for whatever reason Musk has placed himself right in the middle of the foment. He is the most famous person on Earth and his behavior is far from calming. So while the extent is ridiculous, the sentiment and source is easily understood. The difficult part is the lack of justification with regard to something as trivial as what vehicle someone is driving. There is no actual proximate connection. Nonetheless, people are scared and acting irrationally and their fear is being exploited and exacerbated on all sides. The Fox News method is just common practice now. We are far from having fireside chats to calm fears and bring people together. Quote the opposite. Trolls abound.

The Golden Rule still applies. That‘s about all you can do. Be diplomatic and don’t aggravate the situation. We are back to full Covid anxiety levels—if they ever really went away. It is worth remembering that a lot of people are in very tenuous positions at present. That is reality. We are very fortunate to be able to afford such a beautiful vehicle. Many are in the red or just getting by. It’s part of the cost of driving a CT. Justified or not. I see myself as I always have in this regard. I’m a proponent of the sustainability mission and an ambassador of the Tesla brand. Tesla is more than EM and I aim to prove it by spreading good will. Especially in the face of adversity.

A couple a young white guys in a loud Audi called me a nazi, then I rolled down my windows so they could see my brown face. They kept yelling and sped off. I so wished they would learn the actual history of audi.

Sad to see such a rich nation be turned into mindless twits.

Tell them he’s undoubtedly a genius, and without him the whole move to electrify vehicles around the world would be set back many many years. He’s also the person that has got us back into low earth orbit via SpaceX and that will probably get us to Mars one day. That said, you can also tell them if you don’t agree with him with respect to what he’s doing with DOGE or probably more specifically how he’s doing it. If you don’t agree with him politically, you can say that. Also make sure they understand you separate Elon from Tesla (even though that’s a little difficult). For most people, he comes across as a giant dick, and that doesn’t help his cause.

Say he may be the world‘s richest person, but it doesn’t make him a nice person or correct in what he’s doing or how he’s doing it.

If someone still on you after that, then that’s on them.

But honestly, the man is doing it to himself. He is literally the only one that can destroy everything he’s done and he’s doing a pretty good job at that right now. I’m hoping he just refocuses on Tesla, SpaceX and his other commercial endeavors at some point.

Very benign reactions in California so far, with the exception of a thumbs up in Manhattan Beach and a "love the truck" in Big Bear. It seems like there are more deranged people in places like Colorado nowadays, at least from what I've seen online.

This was a fun reaction I experienced this afternoon. My neighbor down the street saw me and said his 6 year old grandson who was visiting wanted to see my cybertruck. So I told him to bring him over; his 5 year old brother and 4 year old sibling twins came too. They all got to jump into the bed and did all of the fun things kids might do. Lastly I put on the light show for them.

At the point it was time to return home with his grandfather he looked at me at told me “this is the only car he had ever wanted” and that he had done so since he was 4. The awareness of young children never cease to amaze me… of course I didn’t tell him it had only been out since last year!

Amen. As this is one of the few places on the interwebs where I actually interact with people anymore. I have just begun to mute folks that want to make this their own covert coded political safe space and evangelize for their own particular brand of partisan hatred. I’m not here for it.

I just wanna talk about the truck that I love and unfortunately the world at large has decided to hate.

The pool of talented, smart enthusiasts on this site cannot be replicated (r/cybertruck just feels lame to me) and I’m not going to disengage just because of a small number of cranks that I can easily silence.
