Hey everyone,
I'm hoping someone here can share their recent experience with receiving the email from Tesla to configure their Cybertruck, all the way through to delivery. Specifically, I’m interested in the timeframe for this process. I've heard that Tesla has been prioritizing deliveries to Texas and California, and I’m located in Southern California. I've also heard that, especially in the last few weeks, the timeline from configuration to VIN assignment to delivery has sped up compared to the previous few months.
Here’s my timeline so far:
- 2022: I placed my reservation with the $100 deposit.
- 8/2/24 (last Friday): I received the email stating that my reservation was up, and I could configure my Cybertruck.
- 8/5/24 (Monday): I downloaded the app, selected the dual motor model, paid the $1,500 payment for the truck & future priority install of the extended range batteries, and submitted my info as the Primary Registrant.
I also entered the details and photos for my trade-in (2023 Toyota Sequoia), which now shows as “Trade-in offer pending.”
I submitted the credit application and briefly saw an APR and payment details in the Financing tab. However, when I went back later to review and approve the financing terms, the option to do so was no longer there. The app also requested that I confirm my residency by uploading 1 document from a list of approved verification documents, so I submitted my most recent AMEX statement.
- 8/6/24 (Tuesday): I received an email from FI Connect (the financing company, I believe) asking for more information to process and complete the application. However, they sent another email shortly afterward, asking me to disregard the previous one.
Since then, I’ve emailed the person from FI Connect to clarify whether my financing is through them but haven't received a response. I also CC'd Tesla Financing on that email.
I used the in-app chat feature and spoke with someone at my local Tesla store in Carlsbad, CA. They mentioned that based on the VIN, the truck is currently in transit from Texas to their location in Carlsbad.
The current status in my Tesla app shows:
- The trade-in offer is pending
- The financing offer is conditionally approved
- No delivery date
This status has remained unchanged for the past four days.
I’m wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience or knows why the app might not be updating. Could it be due to the pending trade-in offer? Or possibly because I haven’t been able to find and approve the financing agreement terms?
Unfortunately, the in-app chat and calls to my local store haven’t been particularly helpful beyond confirming that the VIN has been issued and the vehicle is in transit.
My credit score is 780, so I can’t imaginebe any issues with creditworthiness or income.
Any insights or tips on getting the app status updated would be greatly appreciated!
If you are in California and just received your delivery how long was the process for you?
Thanks, everyone!
