Several times now over the last couple weeks, while sitting at a light, the rear will suddenly drop maybe 1/2 to 1 inch, bounce a couple times, and be still. I've only noticed it at lights but maybe it happens while driving. At first I thought it was because I had it in Beast mode and maybe there was a timeout on the launch stance. But I have since switched to "Sport" and have observed it. It isn't the usual smooth drop like you get when you change the ride height. Sounds like a solenoid pops and it drops (and bounces). Not to the stops. I would definitely know if that happened. Anyone else experience this? It isn't repeatable enough to bring to a service center.

I too have noticed this happening, as recently as an hour ago. I was in sport and the ride height was medium. It has happened several times to me also. Even feels like it unlevels the vehicle at times.

Someone else posted about this. If you open your window, you will likely hear an air release valve go off. It seems to be when the compressor for the air suspension is finished filling the tank and it release just a bit of air pressure at the end. It happens all the time, but I have only ever noticed it at stoplights.

Are you sure you haven’t driven through that area before and set it to a different setting (high, medium, low) and the previous setting for that location needs to be deleted?

Been having this same issue recently. Currently on 2024.20.7. Waiting to see if 2024.20.9 fixes it.

Yes definitely. I feel like it happens when I sit at the first stoplight after being parked for a while . I hear a thunk, the truck abruptly drops an inch. The drop is so sudden it almost feels like someone bumped into you.

My beast does it at random stop lights and it’s not adjusting saved ride height. I’ve watched the ride height screen when it happens and it doesn’t say it’s adjusting or that there’s a saved location.

Mine does it at times, little spurts of air I hear come out of it adapts a bit. It definitely always does it more when I drive over our cattle guard, and other times on some curves I want to say or down hill.

Yes. I have not set any location settings yet. Didn't even know that was an option.

It automatically remembers locations where you had to raise the ride height and then automatically raises at those locations when you approach in the future. There is a way to clear the stored locations, but I don't know where the setting is.

Thanks for all the feedback - it really isn't a problem. I just wanted to make sure there wasn't an issue with my truck. Sounds like it is just one of the quirks of the CT - we'll see if an update finds a less startling way to do whatever it is doing (yes - I always think someone bumped me, too).

Interest - I will check that out. However, I really don't think this is it. It seems to just be the back shocks and it doesn't always do it.

I think what you're describing is the way Tesla to designed the system to avoid waste of compressed air. The tank is pressurized far beyond what the air suspension needs. When it finishes it's run cycle there is high pressure air in the lines. Typically this would be bled to the atmosphere with a short, loud hiss/blast.

What Tesla does is underfills the suspension a bit knowing that when the compressor shuts off there will be a certain volume of air in the lines, at a certain pressure, that it can direct to the underfilled suspension units to bring them the last bit of the way up to the desired setting. Because the valve that diverts line pressure to the suspenders is not soft open, it makes a small bouncing motion of the suspension when the valve clears the lines.

If you have your preferred ride height set to "higher" the suspension will raise and lower depending upon vehicle speed. To avoid this, set the preferred ride height to "Lower".
