Help! This is strange one. It is very hot outside and my Tonneau buttons won't work. However, if I use my Iphone I can open the tailgate, etc.
What's strange is that when the tailgate is open (after using the app) when I push the tailgate button the light inside goes on and off, so the physical button are working! Also, I can retract the Tonneau after tailgate was open using the buttons. But when trying to open without the Iphone app the buttons fail.

what I am doing wrong? Is this an Iphone issue or truck issue?

At about the same time, the Cybertruck refused to open my doors (asked for keycard) and also gave me an error about tire pressure monitor not available, the doors work now, tire monitor works now but not the Tonneau buttons.

I restarted the truck and my Iphone and re-paired. No luck.

Thanks!

It sounds like a phone issue, but it’s hard to say. Double check that your phone is running its latest OS and that the Tesla app is up to date. That would normally cover any common phone pairing issues.

Maybe - Under settings/locks turn off 'Drive Door Unlock Mode' otherwise you'll have to hold down the driver door unlock button three seconds to unlock all other door locks including the vault controls. It's a safety thing.

Most likely the case. I had the same issue, had to hold down the driver side open door button to unlock ALL the doors in order for the tonneau buttons to actually work. I guess you could alternatively UNLOCK your truck from the app, THEN the tonneau buttons should work as well. Let us know.

In the three months I've had mine, the tonneau and tailgate buittons always work when my phone has a Bluetooth connection with the vehicle. If my phone is hidden behind the tailgate, the buttons will not work at all. There is a Bluetooth dead spot with my phone and Cybertruck right behind the tailgate. I have a 6+ year old Samsung S8+.

I had similar issue at first and turned out to be the lock unlock settings mentioned above. Basically I was trying to use the buttons while truck was locked.

Exactly! But if the truck can't see your phone (using Bluetooth), it won't be unlocked.

At least it doesn't lock and unlock incessantly like some cars when working in the general vicinity of the vehicle.

Thanks! That was it! I turned it on by accident!

It wouldn't work yesterday...app and the physical button until I realized my CT was a bout 6 more stalls down around the corner. Yes, I was at a wrong CT trying to gain access.

I don't know if its related, but I have had a similar problem since day 1. I attempt to open to

I have exactly the same issue with my samsung galaxy s21. Thanks for sharing. You've led me to believe its a Samsung issue.

I had the same problem. Others have hit on the solution above. Go into "Locks", and switch off "Driver Door Unlock Mode". This allows all doors to unlock at the same time from your Tesla app or key card. The tonneau/tailgate buttons will work only if ALL doors are unlocked. If you prefer to have ONLY the driver door unlock with app or keycard, then leave "Driver Door Unlock Mode" switch "ON", but tonneau/tailgate switch will not operate until you unlock all of the other doors.

Interesting. I may be experiencing the same. I figured it was because the truck would go to sleep because walking to the side and opening a door would make the tonneau operational again. Next time it happens I will just walk to the side and try it without opening a door.

Yup. That was it. Just had to move to the side of the vehicle to operate the tonneau. Thanks!
