.... to make sure there is nothing sharp left in your house, garage or driveway.
......
You are missing the point. It's about having sharp things where people don't expect them to be sharp.

Like you, I just toughed it out if I ever injured myself, but it's not about me. It's for the people that I care about who are around me, particularly my kids. I don't want them or other people's kids to get hurt when they are around my Cybertruck.

Sigh...Maybe you didn't read my post immediately before the one you responded to. If your Cybertruck has a sharp spot, it's a defect. Either file/sand it off or let the Service Center do it. It's not supposed to be sharp.

But it's not the end of the world if it draws blood, at least 20 different cars have done that to me in my lifetime. And, no, I didn't even think of suing the owners.

I think the OP asks a fair question. It's not an attack on the truck or the stainless steel. For those with kids around, it seems like a no-brainer to make some slight modifications. Not a big deal.

My daughter will be learning to walk/run soon, and I reckon her face will be right around the height of the bottom corners of the door. I plan to get the edge protectors from Amazon. I'll probably also put them on the door corners of my Honda.

All the stainless edges are chamfered. I can run my finger along each panel edge without cut or injury.

If you have a panel with a “razor sharp” edge, it is defective.
Not all were on OUR CT... The right side 'sail' at the top edge was 'rough cut' feeling... Only noticed it because we 'inspected' the CT when we picked it up...

But they fixed it... (probably just needed some elbow grease and some emery cloth I would think)

But yeah, you can do the 'carrot test' on the hood or doors of just about ANY car and it will break... And, you can run a cuke on something that will cut/shave it, but WON'T cut/shave your SKIN!

It's like those pumpkin cutters for kids... They don't even have ANY sharp edges but they can carve up a pumpkin!

I don't think the OP is fair at all. He referred to the "Razor sharp edges" multiple times, which is a complete falsehood that is begging to be splashed across R3dd1t.

The metal is hard, the edges are thin, so it's not suitable for building a crib. But it's not "razor sharp" unless it is defective.

If you can drag a cotton ball along the panel edges and it grabs any, schedule an appointment to have this manufacturing defect remedied.

Exactly! You beat me to it.

I've inspected 4 or 5 Cybertrucks and the edges are all duller than our dullest butter knives. If you have a sharp spot on a brand new truck, it's a defect. It can be deburred at a Service Center or you can do it yourself in less than 5 minutes with a file, emery cloth, or an abrasive stone.

The cool thing about the Cybertruck is it's the only new vehicle you can buy without any fragile coatings whatsoever. So you can file it, sand it, whatever you want, even the outward facing surfaces, without worrying about sanding through a coating or starting corrosion. It doesn't rust (contrary to much fake news you may have heard).

Sand, polish, scrub and clean, it doesn't matter, you can always bring it back to how it looked new. It's just pure metal! The first truck that is truly tough. Enjoy not having to worry about it!
Agree 110% The extra 10% is that the edges are duller than the backside of my butter knives. If anyone's aren't that ought to be remedied, by Tesla on demand if requested, but you can do it or have someone do it for you if that's more convenient.

My truck has such sharp edges too. Hopefully this helps.

1. Use a handheld deburring tool to smooth edges.
2. Apply rubber or plastic edge guards for cushioning.
3. Use automotive edge protector tape for a nearly invisible safety layer.
4. Lightly sand or file the edges with fine-grit sandpaper.
5. Consider a professional edge rolling service for a permanent solution.
6. Apply a spray-on rubber coating like Plasti Dip for temporary protection.

Start with the deburring tool and consider additional guards or tape if needed.

Although technically true, somebody is going to use 60 grit to buff out some spot that doesn’t need it and curse you…

Why would they curse me? All they would need to do is follow up with some 180 grit and some 400 grit.

But that's beside the point here, we are talking about panel edges that are not supposed to be sharp (at all). If a burr is discovered, 60 grit will take it off. I would probably use 120-150 grit, but 60 grit is not a problem when used on panel edges to remove a burr.

The whole idea that Cybertruck edges are "razor sharp" is a false narrative. They are only sharp if they have a minor manufacturing defect (which is incredibly easy to remove).

I haven't had any problems with any of the edges on mine. There must be a lot of variance on it.
I noticed there are plastic corners on the frunk now (got mine the end of august), I don't know if that was true with the early ones.

I would think using clear PPF on the edges would take care of the problem rather than grinding or cutting/deburring on them. A lot of cars have something on the edges to keep them from getting chipped. Again, mine aren't sharp so I don't have that experience.

Wow, my young kids know better than to put their fingers in that crack. The solution to life's dangers is not eliminating them but learning how to live around them without them killing you. I love that CT is a good training tool for that. Wusses beware!

Tesla Cybertruck Razor sharp edges Image_2024-10-27 11_36_13_342

I used my micro-cam to snap this image of the frunk corner, which shows it rounded.

Here’s the edge of a door, it’s basically flat. If there were any burrs along the edges they would be incredibly sharp, but any such remnants should have been removed by the finishing process.

I have a nice laugh at folks who complain about how sharp the edges are. The truck was built to be mostly bullet proof and stainless steel. Does one complain when they use their stainless steel grill about getting cut? You know what you bought. If you are that concerned about it, go buy a Mercedes or BMW. I personally think the edges being sharp are cool and worth the risk for me. Yeah I scratched my hand when I cleaned it and I smiled. This isn’t made as a kiddie toy.
