The rear view camera quality was degraded during one of the previous updates. It’s pixelated and kinda choppy now. Hopefully they fix it soon.

Put a piece of black tape right under the camera, on the stainless. There’s a thread about it on here somewhere

Is it normal to have this much flare from lights in rearview camera?

My rearward view is quite dark; matching the ambient and sidecam levels of brightness. Yours looks brighter than the ambient lighting, as if the "gain" had been turned up.

Now, my old Model 3 had a brighter rearward view than ambient, and it was useful for backing up. Generally, I didn't run it all the time, like I do on the CT, since we have no mirror view!

My rear cam flares worse than that. I've cleaned it and had service look at it and they can't replicate it even though I have pics because the techs don't work at night. It's frustrating unfortunately when there is a huge amount of traffic behind me, the entire rear display loses all detail from the flared headlights. I installed a digital rear view mirror but it has the typical 2k x 30 fps problem of showing everyone's LED running lights as blinking. the Sony Starvis 2 cam has better night vision, but sucks on resolution vs the stock rear cam.
