The third bolt you circled would be in the perfect spot, and a straight piece of that comes through the gap between the cantrail and the roof, the attaches to the side of the lighter.
The location is okay, but single fastener is not great, the added bracket would shift that cantrail mating surface, and it would be a pain to line up the holes.
Plus, there isn't a lot of gap, so it might be a little flexy.

According to the recall notice, the lightbar is actually manufactured by Hella Romania:Two addresses listed, one in Romania and one in Taiwan. Seems likely that the company is based in Romania but the actual manufacturing is in Taiwan.

"Hella" would also be a good name for a company in northern California.

Followup: Looks like the forum already knew this. Aftermarket Hella lightbars are sold with mounting brackets. Presumably someone at Tesla decided to go with adhesives instead.
Hella also makes the matrix lights.
And to be clear, this issue was not due to Hella, they just supply the lightbar.

Yuck I hope not.
Are you saying that to the bracket or the VHb tape? I had suggested the bracket for added mechanical fixation, however others have suggested (and this is what i did anyway) that VHB alone would be fine.
I think its interesting that the recall says a bracket and possibly tape, rather than the other way around

Visible bracket = yuck to me. I much prefer the integrated, seamless look.

Bracket is the surefire long duration retention method. If the light is loose, the will replace it with a new one fastened with tape.
"At no charge to customers, Tesla will inspect the service-installed optional off-road light bar accessory for delamination or damage and if either is present, replace the light bar with a new light bar adhered with tape and a positive mechanical attachment. If no delamination or damage is present, Tesla will retrofit the service-installed optional off-road light bar accessory with a positive mechanical attachment."

Here's hoping
But that design will totally wreck my mounting system for my rack/tent. It currently drops down into the pocket this would require it to sit on top and that's just not going to work. So this is a non-starter as I suspected it would be if they went with an attachment to the most convenient and obvious spot. Convenient for them, not so much for me or anybody who has a similar rack.

I would think the new bracket would drop into the front of the pocket and then just be flat along the bottom. It may raise your attachment point by 1/8" which could screw some alignment up. Maybe they'll have 1/8" spacer plates for the other 4 attachment points so it'll all be leveled out.

If I’m viewing the diagram right it looks like it just lays right over top of the appliqué.

I didn't know there was a diagram out there already. I suppose they solved it before but don't want to start until December?

NHTSA already shows my VIN as a recall incomplete for the lightbar. But it also shows a “recall incomplete” for the parking light when I am already on 38.6 and it has been corrected.
Guessing their updating may be effected by the shutdown but not the actual recall which, if true, is comforting.

I have an incomplete on my lightbar that I picked up but didn't get installed. Guess I may have the opportunity to get it attached using the new method...
