Just wash by hand. It takes me 30 minutes, including hand drying (hit it with an electric leaf blower first), it’s therapeutic , gives you some one on one time with your vehicle, and shows pride in your vehicle. I’ve been hand washing my vehicles once a week for the 25 years.
Except one year I bought an unlimited pass for my BMW and it destroyed my paint job.

Or just use one of these: NO rolling and only 7 minutes.

Yes. I usually unfold them after the last set of brushes so that the final rinse sprays them.

The only thing I wish Car Wash Mode did for Cybertruck would be to lock the rear wheel steering so that the rear wheels do what every other car on the road does and that is to follow the front wheels.
That sound like a great feature request. Maybe we can get it as an OTA.

I have no evidence that what you say is correct. I do not have wheel covers on my Cybertruck but I do have hub covers and I do not see any evidence of damage to them. I always use Car Wash Mode.

My wife has insisted on using touchless car washes on her Model 3 and has never been happy with them.

I think that there is a clear distinction among owners about cleaning our trucks. If my truck is getting scratched then it isn't at a level that I would notice or care about. I used rolling car washes for my Model Y for the 2 years before my Cybertruck was delivered and there may be scratches in the paint on it but nothing compared to what has happened from driving around (pebbles, branches, bird droppings, car door dings, etc.)
Same here, and I also have the model y I've had for 5 yrs going through prime car wash, no issues.

I have a subsription to our local carwash that we roll through. Our CT also has vinyl company swag on it. It's been through the carwash at least 50 times. I go over it with microfiber cloth after each wash and have seen no issues to the vinyl, exterior, or wheel covers. Before my wheel covers were installed I had the center caps and the wheels were exposed. No issues to the wheels or center caps.

I highly recommend Kaady Carwash.

Touchless car washes are kind of hard to find, are you guys getting the brush style ones seeing any small scratches or swirls in your stainless?
Agreed about automated touchless car washes being hard to find! I'm in the Boston area and one that I've found to have good reviews (used it once so far, and it did a really good job) is about 30 mins away from me. Luckily, it's across the street from where I play tennis from time to time.

As for auto rolling car washes, this is what I do 99% of the time. No issues. I put it in car wash mode when I get situated on the track, then put it in neutral, and give the attendant the thumbs up that I'm ready.

If you're not used to a Tesla and putting one into neutral, I recommend familiarizing yourself with how to do it before you pull up on to the auto car wash track lol. Alo, remember that above the rear view mirror, there are touch sensitive buttons to put it in PRND. So, if you have a brain cramp and can't find Neutral on the screen, just touch above the rear view mirror housing. :)

1st post, top photo shows missing slat (you can see the water management channel), 2nd photo shows correct. I think it's earlier builds, mine was 6/24 and had an obvious gap.
My early build (under 2000 VIN) has all the slots, so I think it's more hit or miss than a VIN range. Sounds like they've figured it out now though.

It dawned on me early on that the whole point of the Stainless Steel was not to worry about the exterior of the vehicle. It's been very liberating. Needless to say, I've been going through a rolling, touch car wash for over a year with no issues. No obvious swirl marks either. FYI, I PPF'd my first and now current Model S, and never have or had run them through a car wash.

Pushing the panic button by the mirror for N is a good idea! Assume N up there is = to freewheel mode?

The slat issue is ongoing and is the reason I have to empty out my vault prior to any kind of carwash.
Did you have any trouble with your service center? I have gotten "within spec" 3x now even though the vault gets SOAKED after a car was or heavy rain. The slat gap is not huge but the foam allows light through and it is not the new rubber seals.
Really don't want to drive 4 hours to another service center but may have to if I can't get the local one to step up, add another slat if needed and definitely add the rubber weatherstripping per the new standard.
No, I opened a service request for tonneau cover rework, included a picture of the gap while closed and they ordered the parts. I saw people complaining of the SC saying it was within spec, so I had the service manual link prepared, but never needed it.

I never mentioned any water intrusion, I simply mentioned the gap that their service manual indicates is incorrect. My service status indicated parts were ordered, if I had a 4h drive I would ensure through the app that they had actually ordered parts if you don't see it properly reflected on your estimate. They also replaced both pieces of sail trim and the top trim on the lift gate, they indicated it was part of the retrofit.

Much appreciated, seems like often the only way to get Tesla to do something is to point at Tesla literature, hopefully not pulling teeth to get this done. Thanks

I am not here asking or trying to debate how bad or good a rolling car wash is.
That's fine bud, but this is a public forum lol. The whole point is to discuss opinions related to the topic of the thread.

Every single touch car wash damages or diminishes the exterior finish on a vehicle. Less noticeable on stainless steel, but it still happens. You will eventually notice it over time.

You need to remove at minimum the "track side" wheel covers and put the truck in Car Wash Mode; otherwise the track will pop off your covers and/or damage them.

Touch free is the way to go.
Can confirm, ruined my left front cover..

My understanding is Car Wash mode does quite a few things, including turning off whippers, disabling charge port opening, and I think disabling the lack of seat pressure that puts it into park. But I'll have to test it (not in a car wash) to see if that's the case. It's obviously better than just hitting N...

Yes, that’s correct.
