When I road trip, I drive at nights so all my little ones are passed out. The more I drive without any distraction, the further I will get before the monsters wake up. So for me, range is a big deal for that reason alone.
Think the problem with stated ranges people are having is that it's not based on towing which will be much less range. There are a lot of users planning on towing, which is one of their big marketing points. So yeah range is probably fine for the average long distance trip. But not if you are towing the advertised capabilities. Not sure if many of you have ever road trip'd in the United States in a Tesla, but range is not going to be as big a problem as you think. SCs are are so prevalent and popping up all over the place all the time. Now, if you plan to try and stay off grid, do your own thing in a CT, it is going to be difficult for you. That is not part of Tesla's business model and charging at a SC is integral to that.
We just did 2,900 miles in wifey's Y and it was great, much better than I thought it would be. The CT will be much less efficient than a X, but I still think it will be fine if you do your part, plan your routes, and don't think you can be Mario Andretti and defy physics with how you drive...
Hopeful that the above info does play out, they (as they have done in the past) just switch orders to whatever the like is, and even more hopefully don't increase the price. Wish us all luck!

What is "legally" yours is what you paid for as specified in the bill of sale. It has nothing to do with what a device is capable of doing. Possession has nothing to do with it. Most computer systems come with legal usage terms, in other words you really don't own the software, you are licensed to use it and that license can be revoked at any time. Hacking any operating system is in violation of your purchase agreement and has been supported in many courts. Go ahead and hack your CT and see what happens to it. I bet Tesla has plenty of backdoors to shut you down.Just one example of many. https://insideevs.com/news/532009/tesla-ukraine-fsd-unofficial-use/
I will not speak of what I have and do to what is legally mine.
No one has said it, but we can hope they straight swap reservations for the equivalent level model rumored to be offered. Single=dual, dual=quad, triple=plaid. Same price!
Wishful thinking but that would literally make everyone in line happy!
I would take two extra motors and 500 mi range for 50k with a shit eating grin on my face!
?
Makes sense. You could also do a pretty tight turn putting one rear wheel forward the other in Reverse. No one has really said it yet, but what if dual Motor is rear wheel drive (rear left, rear right) and then the quad motor is four wheel drive? That way all motors could be the same. Then plaid might get the carbon wrapped motors?
