Wondering what Tesla will do on the CT for handling an RV brake controller. Make it a built in option or support third party boxes?

Iā€™m not familiar with RVs. Do you mean a typical brake controller like used to pull trailers or a brake Controller used to tow the CT behind an RV? Iā€˜m sure it will have a typical controller for pull behind trailers.

I mean the brake controller to control the brakes on a towable RV

The model Y tow package that Crissa linked to uses a 7 pin connector which would include the typically blue wire used to control trailer brakes so you can rest assured the CT will work great with your trailer brakes.

Certainly there is an opportunity for Tesla to do great things in support of trailering given the powerful onboard computing with access to accelerometers, pedal position, regen system, individual wheel speed/slip data, torque vectoring and, if they put some load cells in the hitch, data on trailer mass. And indeed Musk promised that they would do some of those great things in the CT. So yes, I rather think the truck will have a built in brake controller.

Sounds like you will just have to supply the ball mount.

You can install the AUTOWBRAKE controller on any trailer up to 3 axles. It's a proportional controller that mounts to your RV or trailer. What's nice is that if someone wants to borrow the trailer, they don't need to do anything to their vehicle. It works really well and is starting to become an installed option on some RV's. https://getautowbrake.com/products/autowbrake-trailer-mounted-electric-brake-control

For the squeeze function when a trailer starts to sway, you can also get an anti-sway controller that mounts to the trailer. This will do the squeeze automatically and apply the brakes once sway starts to occur, faster than a human can do it. By braking the trailer, it slows the trailer down to be slower than the tow vehicle, which stops the sway. https://www.etrailer.com/p-LC380605.html

This electronic anti-sway controller takes it a step further and brakes individual wheels to stop sway. https://www.etrailer.com/Weight-Distribution-Hitch/Tuson-RV-Brakes/335TSC-1000.html
