The 20 extra miles are laughable

The difference in acceleration between the two is a worlds difference

I have two beasts

drove my buddies awd and thought it was in comfort mode ?

if you can afford it get it

most ppl don’t want to wait the extra time… I get it

for me it was beast or bust

been that way for 20+ years since I had my first m3 in high school.
It’s top of the line or nothing lol

As a model X plaid owner, once you get the speed, you won't want to go down. Now, do I need plaid? Absolutely not - but for the X it made a lot more sense:
  1. Came with red calipers and better brakes
  2. Carbon fiber interior which i wanted
  3. 6 seats which required 6500 payment on non-plaid X
  4. Price difference of only $5k
For the CT, 20K isn't worth it. Now if they narrow the gap like the S or X, I'd get it, but 20k isn't worth it as an XP owner.

Dual rear motors and a front locker are an enormous upgrade offroad
It certainly CAN be. Completely depends on software. Good thing Tesla is pretty good at software.

But, while I can't speak for everyone, it's the early access to the bottle opener that won me over.

I learned the lesson early in my broke life, I bought the "cheaper" version because it was all I could afford. When I arrive on something I want, I really dig on the research and make sure I want it. I usually end up loving it and keeping it for a bit, so I would then regret not getting the "nicer" version.

Buyers remorse is a real thing when you love cars. I buy the loaded version one time.

I got the Model S and didn’t splurge for the plaid, I love my S, it smokes just about everything on the road. But I regret not getting the plaid. I want that extra acceleration. it’s not a need, it’s a want, and I want.

if you need it or just want it, it worth the 20k.

for me, I just simply want the best of the best car ever and I can enjoy the insane acceleration once a while as well as my two boys.

You lose the IRA credit of 7500 going over the 80k price point so it’s really about 27,500 to go that fast. Hopefully there is more value there than just a speed boost.
If your income is over a certain point, you don’t get the $7500.

  • $300,000 for married couples filing jointly or a surviving spouse
  • $225,000 for heads of households
  • $150,000 for all other filers

This thread reminds me of every time I go to the range with my .50. There’s always at least 1 person saying it’s unnecessary or overkill.
they just don’t get it, probably never will.

Colorado get's an extra $5k on top of Federal too...but also income limits - so for those that aren't disqualified it's a variable. I didn't qualify for either but even if I did I wouldn't have waited longer...I wanted the damn truck after 4.x years and it was worth it!

Just let my 16 yo neighbor give it a spin, think I made his day! Long time ago when I was 16, my neighbor in CA was a VP at Nissan, brought home a 300z twin turbo and let me take it for a spin, will never forget it! (maybe that's my problem)

Really all you get in beast mode is a sub 3 second vehicle weighing 240 lbs more with less range and no better truck capacity as far as towing and payload. Why would anyone pay $20k more to go from 3.9 to 2.6 sec. 0-60. That can't really be the only benefit. 99.9999999999% of people would never be able to tell the difference.
You don't race do you? That extra 200hp will significantly reduce lap times. After multiple laps it adds up. Like that idiot in the exterior mods forum saying a rear wing will only increase drag and decrease mileage you guys just don't understand cars, if you can even be called guys.
