Bears are a real threat
People around where bears live are a threat to themselves. The “fear Bears” mantra just makes Bears terrorists. We all know how that turns out for the whole bear meets human scenario. That is infuriating.

I’ve ground tent camped in Glacier, Yellowstone, Tetons and CA high country. Definitely, yes bears walked thru my camp, woke me and that’s my doing. I camped in a campground. Stupid campers garbage is Bear food which is why their scavange hunt included the campground walk-thru.

They are really smart, don’t want you coming out your tent chasing them and aren’t begrudging you didn’t leave garbage for them to eat outside, in yoyr car, in the cooler or your tent.

People are a real threat…to themselves. Bears? Bear is just doing what its supposed to do - survive.

...and with the camper down, it doubles as a hearse!
Screenshot_20220603-000740_Chrome.jpg
We have a winner for name that pic! LOL Now every AI image bot will categorize Cybertrucks under “Hearse”. Thanks!

Two ways an ”expensive” accessory maker can take his slide-off.
  1. Drill down into what people want in a RTT who are able to pay the MSRP, willingly.
  2. Redesign the concept to match its MSRP.
I’m not knocking the market analysis that slides-on the back at ½ the price of the futuristic techno-CyberLandr product. Not knocking the prototype, conceptually. I like what they’ve done with simple, lightweight and functionality that just works.

Compared to the first Apple computer? This looks identically like a great idea. Where’s the Big Mac? Its going thru the same progression as Woz and SJ to get to the Big Mac money.

Accessory maker can just slide out of here, too. These folks on here are right. Customer always! The idea, concept and prototype integrates everything necessary. It sells itself, already. BUT for the MSRP that overvalues the space SpaceCamper creates.

Great start. Accessory maker can build them out the door @$11k as-is or get to work on rev1.0 made in plastic thermo-molded transparent glass. A whole market exists of people who want a Tesla SUV and the SpaceCamper design might just find its niche with those car folks. A product that makes Cybertruck look like an SUV, not a slide-on camper.

I was not serious about real bears. I am conflating bear market analysts and that I am inclined to stay at hotels over camping.

This also bears, ;), eery resemblance to the pop up tent camper photos included by Tesla in their reveal night presentation. So.. not really original. And I bet Tesla wasn't even planning on charging this much for that idea.

If you haven't checked out what Alpha Motors is up to lately you really need to check it out.
Looks like their production has gone through the roof. Nice thing about growing your trucks on a render farm is you don’t have to worry about production bottlenecks or battery supplies. You render them as fast as you can change the options in Blender. Pricing? They can set whatever virtual prices they want because bits are cheap. Performance? Their trucks move at 95% of the speed of light (give or take a few thousand MPH based on switch latency and packet loss)

One day we won’t even need to get out of bed. We can put our VR goggles on and drive to work in the awesomely rendered truck!

One of the most common places people will sleep in a vehicle like Space Camper is within a few hundred feet of a supercharger. At almost all of these locations there will be a prohibition against putting a tent on the ground or even opening a tent-trailer. Same with rest areas and importantly, Walmarts.
You could 'save money' by towing a trailer like Coachman Viking but you will stop at nearly EVERY supercharger. Expect cross country speeds to struggle to average above 40 mph.
$24k is steep but someone will offer similar for around $10k, & maybe a lot less.

If I’m overnighting in a Walmart or congested area, I would definitely want to sleep in the cab behind locked doors and armor glass! Conspicuously popping a tent up from the bed and having fabric as protection would not assure me.

Besides, I plan to travel with gear. Pulling the gear out and leaving it next to the truck or piling it on comfy seats in the cab so that I can sleep in the back is not appealing. Can you imagine mountain bikes on the seats? Even if they don’t get dirt and grease on the seats or tear the seats (better remove the pedals!), they would attract far more attention than hidden under the tonneau cover. Maybe just lean the bikes against the side of the truck overnight 😉

If they're going to cut through fabric, glass and rubber won't stop them, either.

Thats why there is an option with the Space Camper to sleep down on the bed level with the tent closed. The whole rear structure is secure with the roof down and the rear sail height extensions help with interior space.

Overall the design allows for a CT midgate to work which most others do not, let alone to still use the rear bed to carry gear. The location of the rear kitchen, on top of the rear windows and under the bed, is also helpful and gets it out of the way. Its just that cooking indoors is not always the best and I'm not sure boxes and fridges being loose in the back are the best design choices. I'm not a fan of the rear awning or support design.

But I like the modular approach with the bed and seats, as well as the recliner and TV setup in bed, and the half decent look when the tent is down. The insulated tent option should also work for most bush camping situations, using the CT A/C any is at least 2m above the ground which is helpful to keep most vermin out. The lift of frame should also work, provided you have a flat floor.

I keep refining my ROCC concept. Roll Over Cab Camper. I will place a rechargeable/removable battery from a cordless tool (co marketing) in the base and pair it will a remote control. The unlock from baseplate, crawl forward and backwards and elevation of the tent in the clamshell will now be done by electric motors/servos embedded in the lower portion of the clam shell. This actually simplified the mechanism. I also eliminated and or attached most of the loose parts for deployment. It is easily a one person job now. This will allow set up to the configuration shown in step 4 in just a couple minutes. Setting up the vestibule tent and attaching it to the ROCC would still be a chore but I am sure a tent specialist could make this better.

I think the ROCC concept is superior because the CD is almost unchanged and it opens up the bed for a kitchen and bench and stand up changing area with the vestibule structure. With some volume I think the base ROCC portion would go for <$10k and all options with the vestibule structure, AC, toilet, shower, kitchen would be <$20k.

I would love to see this built.

Tesla Cybertruck Space Campers for Cybertruck is fantastic! 1654438045023

You can do all of that without the front support arms and just keep the rear of the structure over the midgate, with a support frame attached to the rear CT roof. I don't think it really helps to slide it that much forward, you can access it from the side as well.
