I live in northern Minnesota and purchased a Cybertruck Foundation series two years ago in June. Before that I had always driven Ford pickups with a “topper” installed. Although I was certain that it’s tonneau would do a terrific job of protecting/concealing/securing the contents of the bed (and it absolutely has!), I hoped some sort of cover would eventually be available for the Cybertruck. Last year after examining the specs for The Cap by Spacecampers, I pre-ordered one, and in the fall received notice that our Cap would be available in December. We spend winter months in Tucson so I scheduled installation at their facilities in San Louis Obispo for the end of January and made it a fun road trip from Arizona.

I am so happy to report that we absolutely love The Cap! Build quality is superb. The black mat finish compliments the non-stainless steel trim parts on the CT beautifully. The design is simple and functional. The customer service and communication before, during and after the installation has been top notch.

The installation took a couple of hours. There is a nice shopping center within easy walking distance from the shop, and there is a Tesla Supercharger station practically within view of it as well. Overall this was a VERY positive experience.

Big shout out and thank you to Lee and Orion at Spacecampers.com.

Nice, your CT is sooooo clean! I'm leaving tomorrow for SLO to get mine installed, and my truck is covered in salt and sand. I'll have to get it washed! I had to schedule an appliqué change at the Tesla Service Center in SLO right before my appt for the cap.

What's that shelf you have above your bins? Did you make it?

Made it out of black extruded aluminum (2020 and 2024?) from Amazon. There's two shelves which lay adjacent to one another and rest unattached on a rail that's attached to the vault's L-track on both sides. They're light weight and easy to remove.
The shelves are each 16" deep (so... 32" deep laying side by side, which is half the front-rear dimension of the vault) and 56" wide (the width of the vault between the Molle panels). The 2020 pieces form a frame in which removeable panels are inserted to form the whole shelf. The panels are made from 5/8" plywood wrapped in black felt-like material. They are held in place inside the frame by resting in light-weight aluminum "L" channel attached to the 2020 frame. This description sounds WAY more complex than it really is.
The rail that the shelves rest on is longer than the depth of the shelves so that the shelves can be slid forward to gain access to cargo beneath them if necessary. This design was important and useful when I made a similar one in my previous trucks, as I could reach in through a side window of the 'topper' without having to crawl into the box to fetch something. Of course that's not possible now with the CT plus Cap. However, I still like being able to simply slide one shelf up and on top of the other (or remove it all together) to make room for something too tall to fit beneath it. With the Cap now installed, I plan to replace the side rails with ones that extend all the way to the tail end of the bed and add two additional shelves. This will form a solid second layer over the entire bed area on which cargo can be placed either atop or beneath. If nothing is placed on top of that new rear section, the tonneau can still be closed. Or you could stack the shelves on top of the more forward ones or remove them altogether and set them aside. The aluminum 2020 rails are very rigid and need no support under them even with a hefty load resting on them.

Let's see...
Black matte finish
Glass rear hatch
Rear wind spoiler
Roof cross bars
Interior cross bars (I don't recall the actual name for these)
Inside storage compartments
Interior lighting

I think that's it.

Closer to $10K. I swear to god I'll own this 'till the day I die!
I have had a Spacecamper reservation since very early (and VIN 3XXX CT) but never changed my Rez to a Cap, had given up on those guys ever delivering a product. Great to see they’re producing good stuff.
May I ask why you stuck with the Cap vs ordering a Cybertruckco or Urander cap? I’m still debating my setup and have decided I want the pass-through roof for the standing height RTT inside (similar to Spacecamper original design). Has SC said anything to you about producing the full camper version?

So…I want to say something nice here because I’ve been patiently waiting for this vaporware like everyone else, but all I can think to ask is…someone please explain the difference in price between this and a Urander or Cybertruckco flat panel rack.
Please. Honest question. Give me the pitch.
On the surface it seems like the same or less function with similar design ethos at basically double the price or more and MUCH later to market.

I wanted only a simple, 'shell' type cover that would remain mounted all the time and wouldn't impact everyday use of the CT, so that is what I ordered from the very beginning. When I went to SLO for the install, I didn't even think to ask them about the Wedge.

Honestly Dale, can you walk us through your decision making process about this cap vs the competitors? It’s looks like a nice high quality piece but the price isn’t even comparable. What am I missing?
It’s not a critique or a poke, there are just very few people in your position who can have an educated opinion on this.

Ace, I wish I could offer a more helpful answer, but I really don't know enough about these other products to make a fair judgement. One thing that I valued much was the relatively light weight of the Cap. At under 200 lbs. I felt it likely wouldn't impact range, etc. significantly.

Thanks. Appreciate the candor. I’m just trying to determine where those dollars go and whether they are worth it to me. The truck looks absolutely fantastic btw.
Maybe someone from space campers wants to make a pitch as to how they compare to the competition?
There may be others but the ones I’m thinking of are:

And:
