This is something that a lot of people really don't give Tesla due credit for. For the absolute vast majority of people in the vast majority of use cases, spare tires are a fool's errand and a total waste of time/space/money.

In the rare event you actually needed a spare tire for general use, it would likely be too flat to run anyway since most people refuse to do routine maintenance.

TL;DR: Use roadside assistance in the rare event you need a spare tire or one plugged if you can't be bothered to have a proper tire repair kit onboard.
This response doesn't really make sense to me. I think the use case scenario for this spare is offroading where you're not going to be able to get roadside. This allows you to get home in the event you're offroading/overlanding and get a flat. Most people offroading can change a tire and have air compressors.

Sure, but the vast majority of drivers never go anywhere off-road.

This tailgate aftermarket option is most likely that I will go with. I have see pics of a tire on the top of the bed too - still allowing the cover to be operational.
Yeah go price that out on UP invincible's page and come back and tell us if you're still interested in that rear bumper option :)

Yeah and I agree with you that for the vast majority the spare makes zero sense.

I bought a spare tire and wheel off ebay, also have a jack, and a flat repair kit. If I'm around town I have the flat kit and roadside assistance. If I'm going on a trip, I take the spare. I'll get back on the road quick and deal with patching or replacing the tire later. I don't want my trips to be derailed. That's happened before and I don't need the headache.

I bought a set of spare tire bags. I have 2 extra that I won't use. I can send 1 or both to anyone that wants for cost. Let me know. The tire is heavy and I'm not sure how the carrying strap will hold up over time.
