That is extremely cool. Does it have to be powered and if so by what?

I roof mounted for a little while then conducted an experiment with my tint which made the Starlink as reliable and fast inside as outside. Turns out even a few metallic shavings in the tint are signal killers.
Also of note, flat as opposed to angled seems to make almost no difference.
So this is where it lives now. On the pizza dash.
The reason I wrapped the case in mat black is that the white reflects off the angled glass. If you put flat black wrap on it(ppf in this case), that problem completely goes away and you get a fairly discrete setup. Also doesn’t really heat up like I had expected.
My only concern is that it makes the tint a little conspicuous from outside the car but Arizona cops don’t seem to care at all.
Eventually, when I have glass damage I’ll replace (or have insurance replace) the tint with something non-metallized.
Since it’s there, I just run the cable in the groove behind the dash hump and down the passenger side to under the leather dash piece people replace with carbon fiber. Very discrete and clean I think.

Are the storage trays far enough from the passenger airbag?

Good question. I considered that. The answer is I’m not 100% sure. They protrude around an inch on either side of the screen. As far as backwards extension they don’t reach back any further than the setup with the camera mounts from ev base et al. I’m attaching an image below.
The reason I have them set up that way is that I’ve wedged a hub between them.
I took one of these Belkin hubs and discarded the lighter socket then ran it discreetly behind the screen so I have usb-a and usb-c power up there. Very handy btw.

I can’t really see the airbag even after lifting the mesh but I’m fairly convinced based on feeling the surface down there that the edge of the airbag mechanism is about two inches to the right of where the tray ends.
it might be a good idea based on the visuals you sent to slide everything a little towards the drivers side though.
As always, a very intelligent and thorough audience on this forum. Nothing is missed. This is why I love it.

Oh, do you only have one centered tray now? The other image showed a second on the passenger side.

Not sure why my photo was linked, but just to clarify—I don’t have any kind of storage bin on my dash, and I couldn’t even install one because of my swivel mount. If you're referring to the matte carbon fiber dash with the cutout, that’s actually designed to prevent the airbag from breaking the carbon fiber and launching into the passenger’s face during deployment. It's secured from underneath, and while the adhesive hasn’t been applied yet, it will still function properly once it’s in place.

Oh. Very confusing. I thought that black oval was a mark of where we thought the airbag was.
Sorry.

I’ve been to the service center more times than I’d like to admit. I’ve been told repeatedly that, aside from the dash with the cutout, airbag deployment wouldn’t pose a safety risk to passengers. When installing my S92 optical cable, I was consistently advised to route it over the passenger airbag—not under it. Unfortunately, there’s a lot of misinformation out there—especially from that CaRizma guy pushing flimsy off-brand products from China, who insists it should be routed underneath. The last thing I want is to put someone I love at risk.
