I’ve been wanting to try one of those. Was deterred by a few posts that described the spokes in them trashing the dash grill cloth.
is that just hyperbole?
I have one (Umbrella Shade)and it have had no issues with it poking hole in the dash or anything. I will tell you its still not a perfect world in major heat reduction as they always claim, But it does help yes and much better than the bubble/Foil version I tried before (it sagged even with their suction cups in place. Which were a bear to remove) The one Umbrella shade I got works and it has a little rubber bumper so the metal shaft does not dent the dash. The Roof Shade however that came with it does not work. That unit came in the set of worthless Plastic clips that won't install per instructions and I didn't want to ruin my interior trying to push harder. The supplier refunded my money for that. I am still look for a roof shade that works though.

Got my wife one of the unbrella sunshades for her Model Y. It was used exactly one time. They look simple enough... it wasn't.

Good idea. I like it.
I badly want someone to do a power sunshade like they do for the glass roof but that works for the windshield.

You could just shut it while supercharging or when you leave the car to keep the gawkers eyes out etc
First of all what an awesome product! I have kiddos and now that it’s getting unbearably hot I’ve been considering the OEM shade but I might end up getting this, gotta find some reviews. But also, indeed how awesome would it be to have one for the front. Old be used when supercharging, camping, parked, definitely makes sense to produce.

I agree. It’s awesome. I did not buy it because I already have one of the starlight roof thingys and it does this. (See video)
Also provides some fun nighttime stuff too though.

I’ve seen posts with the lights and stuff but I didn’t know it frosts the glass too? That’s the same product?

Yes. It’s “electrochromic”. Same product. I don’t know about nonvisible spectrum but when it’s frosted there is virtually zero visible light penetration

Or
You could tint the windshield with appropriate material and never worry about heat. When I had my wrap installed the company called a guy who tinted the entire truck with precut panels. You cannot see in the truck and the dash has never been hot. The truck came with a sun shield for the glass roof the works great. Total cost was 250. Been a while since I’ve been out west but it gets really hot where I am. If I had to put up a cybertruck size window visor every time I got in or out of the truck I would sell it!
My son-in-law has a Foundation that came with the truck that he won’t install and never tinted his windshield. Needless to say it is scorching hot!
As for tints and heat many do a great job of keeping the heat out If you are worried about legal issues, watch a few YouTube videos on the legality of tint meters! Put your windows down.

Agree with all that. There are also many tints that have amazing thermal properties without being dark.

You have a link?
I got mine from Tesstudio but can’t at all say I’ve been happy with them.

I did do much better than that pricewise. It’s been a while but I pad around $1000. Maybe slightly more once everything’s said and done.

So Cool, I have been in one plane that has that tech on the windows. I don't know if it $599.99 cool though.

Definitely not for everyone, but I enjoy mine. No regrets. It’s a certain kind of bling that definitely makes an impression on people who ride in it. Especially on kids.
Instant jaw drop reaction.
And the nighttime stuff is pretty cool too. Gives my truck a “trashy limo” motif . ? that along with a few other mods I’ve done. Makes it fun for “night on the town” type stuff.

You have any pics of the difference from clear to frosted? The one youtube video I found looks like "clear" is quite hazy compared to actual clear. Maybe he didn't remove some piece of protective covering? Or is that just how the plastic is?
