Tailgate not flush

Used a dremel bit grinded the metal striker and made the hole horizontal longer. Reinstalled 95% better. Couldve gone a little more but the bit snapped. Lol anyway im satisfied.

I did the exact same as above, but with a vise and a sharp drill bit. I did not enlarge the diameter, but just held the bit vertical and pulled with hand pressure to elongate the hole into an oval. It worked perfectly, and they are now adjustable latch plates, just like the pic posted above.

took me about 20 minutes from start to finish.

Got mine back from service this morning. They were in fact able to adjust the tailgate. It is not 100% flush now but 10x better. All the service notes stated was that the latch required adjustment.

That’s interesting. I tried adjusting both the latch and striker and neither had slots, only round holes. So, I as previously posted I simply milled a couple of slots.

Can you point to where you ground down? I only see the black striker in your pic with no visible improvements.
