The antidote for FUD is the unfiltered truth; so the best we can do is understand the situation, and be ready to give people the real deal behind of all this.

I think this nation is long overdue for a systemic criminal justice reform. Things in general have been trending in a really nasty direction, and it has ramped up lately because DOGE has been shining a huge flashlight in dark and lofty places.

What we absolutely shouldn't do it cower in the corner and give in to terroristic threats. Throughout the history of human existence, there has only been one result of that: More terrorism.

It needs to be dealt with swiftly and severely.
BINGO!!!!! Knowledge is power!

These head in the sand nincompoops make me just as angry as the FUDsters!!!

There is no virtue in being ignorant!

The site definitely exists. But it's such a sensationalized story. Zoom into Las Vegas. I know hundreds of people with Teslas there, and at least 4 other CT owners... Yet there is 1 person mentioned. They don't even have all of the publicly available data for superchargers on the map. Script kiddies at best. Def not 3771T3 H@X0rz.
Don't get me wrong, I feel bad for the folks that have their info on the site. But the media coverage is overblown.
Seriously. No hacks. Just people scraping websites for OSINT and compiling it on a map.

I thought they (everyone in power earlier and the main stream media) said there'd be zero tolerance for any hate crime, but obviously they are applying double standard.

Corporations typically provide unfiltered messaging to the general public via (1) advertising, and (2) public relations. However, it's well known that Tesla doesn't use either of those options. Perhaps this leaves Tesla more vulnerable to FUD.

Ideally, yes. But realistically, it may be hard to deal with an anonymous website, especially if it is hosted outside of the US. Maybe the website can be taken down. Maybe then it pops up again at a different address.

My guess is that the people behind it know how to cover their tracks. The FBI can try following the money, but the trail may end in an anonymous crypto wallet.

I'm glad Telsa doesn't spend money on legacy ads; they are a waste of time and effort. And the vast majority of them are incredibly corny lol.

The mini-showcases they put out on social media is absolutely perfect.

Is it legal to pepper spray (or use non-lethal force on) someone who is currently in the act of defacing or vandalizing your vehicle?

What if the person is using their finger to write an obscene message on your vehicle?

What if they run away when you catch them vandalizing your vehicle? Is it legal to simply chase them? Is it legal to chase them and also use non-lethal force on them?

I imagine context is key. Any legal pros/gurus who can chime in?

It varies by state, but you usually need to warn them and give them time to understand and comply.

Yes. As a U.S. citizen you have a right to be secure in your persons and property.

The escalation and continuum of force should be used; but it depends on the situation. If you have kids in the back seat, I would be a LOT less gentle in sending the message.

Generally not advised unless you have been professionally trained, but I would start recording video before your presence is known so you can present the best evidence to police.

Is it legal to simply chase them?
Meh, this is a tough one. Most the time citizen pursuit doesn't end well for anyone. Let the police handle this.

In most cases, citizens arrest is a protected action, but man, I gotta say it is generally very ill advised. People these days are batsh*** insane and if they are willing to vandalize your property for no rational reason, then they probably have no problem stabbing or shooting you.

@REM, I would probably add on that it’s also State specific on laws in protecting your property. In almost all states using deadly force to protect your property is illegal, except in Texas.

Thanks!

I think this info should be permanently stickied on the front page of this website.

You absolutely cannot chase someone fleeing and use non-lethal or lethal force.

You can if someone is in the act of vandalizing your personal property. If they are writing on it with their finger and you tell them to stop and the continue to do so, you could probably justify it, but if you just attack them from using their finger to write on your truck, depending on the local/court, it likely won't go well for you.
