All this text and none of it addresses my overall point...

Also I do own a Raptor and had a great experience. Paid sticker and Ford paid for offroad driving school for a weekend, among other perks
do you have any details on the off-road driving school? I’d be interested in that even on my own dime.

Everyone knows what Elon showed and said. I was there on reveal night and reserved like many folks did. You’re holding on to a statement and truck that ever only existed in a statement and on paper. Show me the EPA rating that says 500 miles. They never produced an actual truck with 500+ miles of range so what you believe you are entitled to because of a PowerPoint presentation in 2019 is completely irrelevant. What they did produce is a truck with “260” miles or range according to your statement. That’s what you have to decide you want to purchase or not. Anything that was said, documented, reported on, or shown prior to this truck being released is also irrelevant. What is relevant is the the truck that’s available. If you want it fine. If not fine but stop complaining like a 5 year old that mom promised a cookie to when we got home them made you clean your room for it. “But mom you promised!”
When a business advertises a product with specs, takes people's money based on those specs, then does not update those specs for 4 years and then changes them DRASTICALLY, I don't think it is unreasonable for people to have an issue with that.

If you're spending a lot of money, a dealership will treat you like a king. It's a fair point that Tesla doesn't give that experience at its upper trims, where similarly priced vehicles elsewhere will roll out the red carpet.

When it comes to M3/MY versus other places in that price range, you may be better off with Tesla. None of the BS, just a straight transaction, easy and done. Buying a $40k Rav4 won't get you red carpet, it just gets you nagging and attempts to upcharge.
Why should they treat you like a king, why even bother have a dealership for the CT or have testdrives ? What people seem to forget is, that the CT is sold out for the next 5 to 8 years. Would you buy or order a car now, when you know for 100% that you'll never get it before 2029-2032 ? Let's say as independent your order book being full for the next 5 years at least, would you look for new customers or rather do everything to fulfill your orders ? What do you think ?

I agree it’s not unreasonable to have an issue. The only way to show a business, in this case Tesla, that you have an issue is by not purchasing their products. A business as large as Tesla only cares about their bottom line. They couldn’t care less how any of us feel about their products. Do I like that the price was higher and the range was lower, of course not. But the decision each of us has to make is whether the 2024 Cybertruck Tesla was actually able to produce fits our needs and budget. What was said in 2019 really doesn’t matter.

You are not being forced to do anything. You are being given an opportunity to purchase an early model high trim version of the vehicle which is currently valued more, based partly on scarcity. You get to decide if that truck is worth the up cost .
I’m priced out. Perhaps that will change in future models.

My beef with Tesla can be best equated to why Jay Leno doesn't own any Ferraris:

"you know you're spending a tremendous amount of money you should be made to feel like a customer "

We're spending a LOT of money on the Cybertruck. Yet Tesla, with ZERO communication, ZERO transparency regarding the product launch, not allowing anyone to even sit in the trucks in showrooms, being forced to pay a $20k 'Foundation' markup, HALF of the promised range... it feels very much like a Ferrari experience.

"Oh you wanted a reasonably priced truck that beats out the competiton in range, features, etc.? Fuck you, pay $100,000 for fewer features and less range, or get to the back of the line. You should be grateful for the PRIVILEGE to even hold a reservation"

I'm not feeling very much like a customer with the Cybertruck launch. It makes me want to reconsider the whole thing.

Interested to hear other's thoughts.
I agree with you, I wanted the 500 range and a ramp, both gone. Now we might have to give up part of the bed to extend our range. How will this work? Is it available right away? I have a 2017 S and I love it, even though the driver seat needs to be replaced. But I feel more left out on this truck because of a lack of communication. To those who want to call this complaining, it is not; we are having a discussion. Just saying. :)

I know one guy who essentially has unlimited cash, he buys new luxury cars like I buy a bottle of water. He bought a Model S Plaid right after the refresh, when it was delivered to him he had all sorts of issues. He couldn't get anyone on the phone or anyone to help him with his problems. He said he will never buy a Tesla again. Sure this is just one guy, but he buys at least two six figure vehicles a year. At some point it's possible for even Tesla to burn too many bridges. Goodwill and reputation have value.

I've bought one Tesla and my experience was fine, because the car was delivered without any problems. I imagine I wouldn't be getting a FS CT if my first purchase went anything like his.

Agree.

For me Tesla is like a little bit like Apple. You get a great product, if not the best, and if you are lucky you will never have any problems. If you are unlucky, the battle begins. But I think Tesla or Apple buyers know that. So it's a choice you take or not.

They did save that money but my question is how much do you think that Gigapress they had to ship from Italy in pieces then reassemble here cost? You don’t think they’re entitled to recoup the billions they spent up front on the factory, new design and engineering that didn’t exist to produce this truck. Should they just eat that cost so you can buy the truck at the price you, with an $100 investment, would like to pay? If you had received an invite as an early adopter would that change your opinion?
People don't understand what a sunk cost is. Also don't understand what it cost to start from nothing a building and production line soup to nuts. There is a large desert somewhere. I wish them the best as they take their hand and repeatedly pound again and again into said sand.

Love how people keep insisting that reservation numbers don't mean anything when they so obviously do. Dumbest hill to die on.

Let me make it easy for you to understand: Early RN number = FS invite. High RN number = No FS invite.
I wish I could agree with you, but I am a very early reservation owner and nothing yet as an offer from Tesla. so IMO Tesla is targeting the influencers and high dollar people. No concerned with your position in line. I happen to know some people even lower reservations in line than I have and they have not heard anything. They also live in Austin area.
If your position was actually true, Tesla would have gone down the line and sent offers to each person. Not choose people 50K in line over 100-200 in line.

I agree, man. Switched from a Tri-mitor to a dual to get better range and to not have to wait 6 months to a year and I am second guessing my decision. I have loved my Model Y but still have a bad taste in my mouth when I took delivery and just two weeks later Tesla dropped the price 20k and destroyed the value of my new car. Tesla doesn't car about customers. Likening them to Apple is spot on and I think about it all the time. Someday Tesla will pay the price of the karma they are building up right now when true competition exists and we that have memories are looking for other options. That time feels a long way off right now though.
Very torn about whether to just take the $1000 deposit loss and move on with my life. 111k after taxes is a lot of money. Fighting a serious case of FOMO.

Has anyone at Tesla said there is a line? Show me one piece of Tesla created anything that says your RN equates to a place in line.

Here is some therapy incase you need it. Very well received by people in your shoes.
