....
It is interesting that Apple is also looking to reduce dependence on Taiwanese (island of democratic Chinese) assemblers led by Foxconn. Is Apple worried that mainland communist China may attack or blockade the island?
.....

The lockdown policy that was being protested wasn't in Taiwan.

Yes, I know.

So why might Apple be reducing dependence on Taiwanese (island of democratic Chinese) assemblers?

Because it's probably just some analyst trying to stir up a story where there isn't one. A diversified supply chain is one more resilient to regional problems like storms, pandemics, and economics.

Some say the quality of the model 3 produced in Shanghai is better than Fremont.

10 years or more ago when Apple contracted with Taiwan assemblers, labor was much more expense in Taiwan than India.
Yes, but their chips were so much better. India's chip market has gotten better, like, incomparably better, than what it was. Taiwan's are still literally the best in the world. But I don't see much moving to India except to increase output.

I've heard the American chips were the best in the world and Taiwan's are second. And since Obama the US has said no to giving the Chinese chip technology that's why they want to take Taiwan. Not politics just history. Watch Joe Scott's video from last week,, he just talked about this.

Yeah, Taiwan was making the best but now we're selling to US based factories first.

I feel for the dude. Transition from Chinese workers to American workers, From Chinese to American labor laws? I think he is going to jump off of a bridge in first 6 months
The way Musk operates, if workers can’t get on board with his approach, they’ll be shown the door.
