So far, Farmers quoted me $850 for 6 months on the CB. I applied for a loan from my CU. No luck from electrical installers, since none want to deal with the Powershare, so I'll probably need to inquire at shops that are certified for Tesla Solar.

If i were you i would just get a NEMA 14-50 plug put in. Cheap and the truck comes with mobile connector. If you're looking at CB, tesla will install the powershare later (at least 4k of it)

The thought of doing a joint ownership thing with someone sends my skin crawling. I had considered doing turo or something but I'm like, if it doesnt work out, then im screwed.

Trust me, I ran through the thought exercises. But a 1.5kish/month payment is 3/4 my mortgage lol.

If i didnt have 2 toddlers to worry about, i would be all over it... (or if my wife would get back to full time work) lol dont tell her i said that. but as things are now. It's just not in the cards..... I literally just stare at my order page all day now though... so thats not healthy lol

You'd just hold onto all the V2h stuff until tesla figures it out. Honestly, I dont think tesla is even giving people all the stuff with the truck right now. I havent seen anyone hauling a bunch of accessories around.

Is your panel in the garage? If so, you could just mount a nema 14-50 on the garage wall outside and call it good

So, tesla texted me after i did another trade request. I asked them if i can just ignore the foundation invite. They said yea and you wont lose your spot. Just an update. Maybe i'll get lucky and it will stay open and the second it switches over to non-foundation i can scoop it up

A NEMA 14-50 outlet is sub-optimal for vehicle charging, an uneccessary potential source of failure, oxidation and resistance. Copper oxidizes rapidly so the fewer terminals and plugs the better. Also, installing a NEMA 14-50 requires one more conductor to meet code requirements vs. installing a Wall Connector. That means it will cost more, not less. The final nail in the coffin is that the Foundation Series comes with a Wall Connector and a Mobile Connector.

The smart way to do this is to hardwire the Wall Connector (it will cost less than a NEMA 14-50 install) and put the Mobile Connector in the Cybertruck so it's always available to provide a emergency shot of juice to another EV in need.

I have and use two Wall Connectors and a NEMA 14-50 outlet with a Gen I Mobile connector capable of charging at 40 amps from the outlet, but it is not ideal and will be replaced with a Tesla Wall Connector as soon as I get around to it.

NEVER install a NEMA 14-50 for the sole purpose of charging an EV, it requires the installation of a useless copper conductor running the entire length of the install back to the breaker panel and now that all EVs are going to NACS, a Wall Connector is the more robust and reliable, more future-proof choice.

Even if you are planning to move, it is dead-simple to turn the breaker off and unscrew the Wall Connector. Personally, I would just leave it there (it will help your house sell for more $$) and buy a new one for $400 for my new house (if it didn't already have EV charging installed).

It was not pleasant listening to all your bellyaching about how Tesla had forgotten about you and how unfair they were being.

Now we learn that you knew the $20K Foundation Series Premium was not in your budget and all you wanted to do was cast a big ugly shadow while you constantly complained about what should have been a happy Cybertruck release. You should have put on the big boy pants like @Crissa (and many others) did.

It's too late to ask about tips for being graceful, you've already blown that. Just ignore the invite to configure a Foundation Series and accept when they offer you a standard non-Foundation model for $20K less. Common sense really.

I'm turning the tables on Tesla by stringing them along for a while. I open the configurator, change an option or two, click the "Continue to Payment" button, then ghost them. ?

That page sits open in a tab for a few days until I close it out, then reconfigure again... ad infinitum*

*until it qualifies for the EV tax credit

In my experience, if the panel is right next to the install point, it would be cheaper to do a 14-50 install then to have a wired wall charger put in and then re-wired when the powershare homies come. and it could act as a second charger for a second ev or anything else when the time comes
